Club3D Radeon X1600Pro 512MB or a XFX 6800 Xtreme 256MB?
They're both equally expensive at 159 euro. I don't know much about this stuff so I was hoping some of you could help me decide? Also, I'd like to know how either of these compare to a 9800 Pro 128MB.
Thank you!

Well I would choose the 6800 Xtreme since it has a better chip (as far as I know)

Thank you! | I'd get an x1600xt instead of the pro. It may have more memory, but the memory clock is alot lower than the XT and 50 less mhz on the core clock. and if that 6800 is just a plain 6800, don't even bother as it isn't much more powerful than the x1300pro. the x1600xt is about eqaul to the 6800GS. But I have a better deal for you. Here. That beats them both into rubble.

Wouldn't that kind of be overkill for a meagre AMD Athlon 2700+ and 1GB RAM?

I forgot though, I only have an APG slot.
Also - it isn't cheaper, it's about 199 euros, compared to the 159 euros of these cards. | oh D: Yay for me not noticing it was pounds xD Then go for the x1600xt if you can find one. If not get the Pro and overclock it AGP is a drag though D: Heres a pro for 131 euros. <-(hope thats right xD)

So this one is OK compared to a 6800 (http://www.xfxforce.com/web/product/listConfigurationDetails.jspa?productConfigurationId=268341) and especially to a 9800 pro?
I had a 9800 pro but it kind of broke down. Is this a huge improvement then?
And thank you so much.

One of my friends (sitting right beside me ATM) Use a 9800 pro and changed it to the 1600pro and saw a huge improvement though he says the benchmarks he looked at showed the 6800 was a little better.

And thank you so much. | Its a tad better than the 9800pro (plus its got shader model 3 and its an easy overclocker or so I hear.) and it should be just a bit better than a 6800. Not a GT mind you but the 6800 you had listed.
I'm suprised 9800pro's are still doing well in the budget card market. They are good cards

buy the 6800 but not the xtreme version (i would advise on regular gs) cuz you'l just waste your money on factory overclocking and you can do it at home free.
anyway check out geforce 7600 since it's FAR better than those 2.

Yep. you are missing something. the 6800 you linked isn't a GT. This is the benchmark you want.

Thanks! | You may want to ante up and buy the 6800GS if you want good performance on games like fear. Link

Or how about the Sapphire Radeon X800GTO 256MB GDDR3? I saw that one somewhere for 160 euro. Is that OK?

It doesn't have SM3.0 but it does have 2.0 If you don't mind having all the newest effects in games its a good choice. Its about the same speed as a Radeon x1600XT. You could probably overclock it as fast as an x800xl or xt.

So it's a better choice than the original two cards?
I don't care too much about uber cool effects in games. As long as games look moderately pretty with nice FPS (compared to my older 9800 pro), I'll be very happy.

FarCry 1600x1200 0xAA/0xAF
X800 GTO 55.8 fps
9800 Pro 25.7 fps
HL2 1280x1024 4xAA/16xAF
X800 GTO 47.2 fps
9800 Pro 20.8 fps
FEAR 1280x1024 0xAA/0xAF
X800 GTO 33 fps
9800 Pro 14 fps
So yeah, It's definately an improvement over the 9800pro. And with overclocking it could be even better

I asked people alot of questions like this when i built this PC, but just decided I'd read up on a bunch of stuff since this is my first self made PC. So you can say I came to be a bit of a hardware junkie o.O; Hope you like it

In the end I ended up with a Club 3D Radeon X800 RX (basically a GT), for 175 euro. It was easier for my shop to get. I'll be getting it in two days.
