Other day I come home and my monitor wouldnt wake up. I reset, and it gave a few error beeps, and a boot error. I hard booted, and it booted fine, but now the CPU usage
for SYSTEM is pegged at 99 % at all times. I tried scan disk, doesnt help. I just reformatted, and same thing. I tried swapping memory, and no worky. I reseated everything. I couldnt get anything close on google. Any Ideas?

Try removing the cpu heatsink and see if it has no damage and if possible try removing the processor, clean it and grab thermal paste and put a very thin layer above the cpu surface and put it again in the mobo and see if it helps. If in windows starts to say again that the system is 100% you can have a defected cpu or the cpu is overheating.

Are you sure it's not System Idle 99%, that would be totally normal if you are not doing anything.

Thanks for the tip. I removed and cleaned the heatsink, and it wasnt too bad. While I had it apart I took the liberty install the case cpu thermometer, which I hadnt done because I forgot to on first install, and didnt want to risk damage by getting back into it.
Bios says Im running at 69C, way too high! and my case thermo is reading at a whopping 100C. This is at a cold boot with no program load whatsoever. Thing is the box worked like a champ for 6 months, then this crap all of a sudden. And the CPU load is coming from SYSTEM, not SYSTEM IDLE PROCESS. And it is barley useable in this state.

reason = AMD Very Happy kidding...

I had a scare a couple of days ago, my computer ran fine, but in-game it really had low fps(frames per second) so I ofcourse thought my geforce was broken again, tried turning down the overclock; with no effect... my com was switched on for about an hour or so.

Now as I begin shutting down the system to look inside the case(to look at the GFX-card) I see that a wire has blocked the cpu fan, HOLY SHIT i thought, and switched the power off manualy(no time for windows "saving my personal settings"´n shit.

After I free´ed up the cpu fan, and switched it back on, it ran fine... no broken hardware, the point is, that it may save your hardware if you got gooooood airflow in your case. In my case, I prolly would have lost cpu+motherboard, if it was not for the UBER airflow Iv got Razz

So do you have any other fans in your case other than cou/gfx? also make sure you com aint in a confined space, it do not matter how many fans you got, if its only hot air circeling your system. also cpu fan´s RMP is ? it might be broken, and not running fast enough.

Good luck

Go to a hardware store and take your case with you. Ask them to exchange your stock cpu cooler for the thermaltake big typhoon or some other else..but in my opinion the tt big typhoon is the best. If the temp goes down keep the cooler

Ive got the feeling that the heat issue is a symptom not the cause. Something fried. Ill let the repair shop handle it. All the main stuff is still under warranty, and they will replace failed hardware at no charge.

I finally figured it out! Seems the USB controller is fried. I disabled it in bios, and my CPU is back to normal load and temps. Was driving me crazy for a while. I can let them know at the shop and save them a bunch of time. They have to look for themselves first before they will honor warranty. Thanks for the tips.
