Naaaa, Norway is great, my wifes lesbian sister lives there with this Norwegian chick that used to be married...NO JOKE!

(I actually think bittorrent is a great protocol - just think of the distribution of huge romsets or unix dvd images)

bittorrent is excellent and smaller sites have a good community that shares. i realize that sharing is technically the antithesis of the scene, but there is something to be said for the availability of various and sundry items that have dropped off usenet and the ftp sites.
besides, the legal question is one of facilitating copyright infringement. this dovetails into ISP's being responsible for hosting such conduits of IP distribution. I can only hope that the case is dismissed or that some technicality in the raid will eventually lead the three members to sue the state.

Same but it is only one lose amongst many, piracy is unstoppable it will only mutate into something else or expand.
And there is many different ways to copy information some primitive some not so primitive.
All chess pieces are pawns in the sense that the player's control is equally absolute.

I was reading in our local paper they are going after Isohunt. The guy who runs it is from Richmond, suburb of Vancouver (Canada). The MPAA is after him too. Maybe if I find yesterdays paper I will scan it. They can try all they want but I don't think they can touch the guy here. Looks like his tracker is still up.

Yup, the Swedish Police main site was indeed DDOSed.
There will be a big demonstration in central Stockholm in the morning (pro Piracy) and there is actually talk about a congressional hearing regarding this whole affair. We live in a democracy and some (opposition party) wants to find out if this clamp down was on order from...bam! BAM! USA! If that's the case its against the constitution and all that crap. The law is a wonderful thing, no ? Watch ur back Mr. Bodström and remember that this year is...bam! BAM! election YEAR!

Just want to make sure the news comes from us and you all don't hear it from the news.
The last 3 days we've been setting up servers for TPB. You might think, should NFOrce even consider hosting TPB...
Well we are hosting over 300 servers, spread over over 400 customers. Some customers have multiple servers, even 10, 20 or more. We're doing a total of 1-1.5 GBIT upstream and about 200mbit downstream.
More than 350 of our customers and more than 250 of the servers have actually nothing to do with torrents or any "gray illegal activity". We indeed seem to host some torrent sites. But when someone orders servers from us we do not ask what they are going to host on it. We just point to our FAQ and that is all we can do. When we receive complaints we forward them to our customers and they will deal with it. If the complaint is correct and legally grounded, then we force our customer to comply with the demand(s).
We do not earn any money on TPB for hosting them, the costs are over 20k euro for hardware. Then comes the bandwith, rackspace and support they will be needing. Like with all of our customers, only after 10-14 months we earned back the investment and start making a small profit on those customers.
I really wonder what will happen in Sweden and I wonder what the government here in holland will do about TPB moving to here. From TPB I heard that they are setting up more TPB serverparks in Mexico and 3 more countries next to The Netherlands.
I myself have never ever used a torrent site/file or even installed a program for it. Whenever we get a complaint, we from NFOrce can only see some kind of encrypted text content in the .torrent files. We do not see this as illegal material. If indexing .torrent files is illegal, then .nfo files could be illegal aswell (and yes, .nfo files is a standard filetype used by M$) or even google would have illegal content due to its caching.
We will kick any customer that breaks the law here in holland the moment we get the complaint from the officer of justice. But torrent sites and sites like rapidshare are not illegal and thus we do not kick any of those customers untill it is illegal by law.
That's all, fyi we will be upgrading their servers with an extra 15GB of memory on their servers tomorrow and on the end of the coming week. They cought us of guard when "a customer" called for some server needed right away. We did not even know we were hosting TPB untill we came back at the office after setting up the servers.
That's all folks.

At this moment we are making a document with the list of servers with the names of the customers who are using them. Till now we have everything a huge database, but if there will ever be a warrant for a specific client, we want to make sure they got signed papers from us ready so they dont bring down any other servers.
So we're ahead with those things, altough I do not see the problem with hosting such a site. If it was illegal by dutch law I wouldn't have accepted them, but its not. So denying them as a customer would even give a hosting company (us) a bad name. And that is something we seriously don't want.
