Its disgusting that we havent found a cure for this yet.
Its such a horrible and lethal disease you'd think scientists would have done more to cure it already.
Im convinced adis, cancers etc can all be cure...if the pharmasecutical industry wasnt so huge...
Disgusting so many people are suffering...

Safe to fuck around. ^^
Well, 2100 isn't that much. 3600 - Sweden, aint that much either, they are more people than us.
But Finland only got 1500. Hmmm, less immigrants?

Scientists are the cause of it... (yeah, conspiracies, conspiracies, but there is something to it)
I bet there is a lot of 'dark numbers', since they only count people who have actually gone to the doctor and found out they had AIDS or otherwise. Especially the numbers from Africa and other regions must be only estimates, since medical care is non existant there (except for South Africa).

it aint that easy to find a cure for it. Because it is a virus, hence you cannot kill it, because it doesnt live. Secondly the virus is very weak, which makes it strong. Your body almost doesnt recognise it as a virus. And it is a retrovirus, which makes it very hard to destroy. Once it makes it way into a cell, it goes into your DNA, and stays there for some years. And then it releases itself to become active.
Thats why it is hard to make a medicine. Before you make a medicine, scientists have to understand how the virus exactly works. What the factors are that induce all those phenomena. Once they know that, they can start working on a medicine, or a vaccin.
(Although i doubt that pharma industry really is trying to make a vaccin. Pills bring more money than a vaccin that only is used once. Sad but true )

Yeah it fucks up the immune system, so its not the hiv\aids that kill you, but without an working immune system you don't last long.

agreed.
Aids was invented by scientists to keep down the growing number of people in africa. But apperently things got a bit out of hand and it spreaded world wide.

I just read in my newspaper today that for first time the number of HIV infected have fallen. Especially many african countries have made good progress.

Well, I think that a vaccine will be done In a near future, here In sweden we are testing a new one now/or soon..
But Its scary that It hasnt been done earlier, think of all the money that the vaccine/cure would generate, nobel price and so on..
But As said before, without HIV/AIDS there would be "to many" people In africa..
Maybe Its just mother earths attempt to keep the number of people down.
Well, Its some scary shit. And I dont how much truth theres to the rumor about scientists creating it. Its possible.. We are stupid..
Sig too big.

Well, i kinda have a slanted view on the Aids epidemic. I know i will get flamed for this one.
Firstly though, i think that comparison would be more effective if it showed a per capita comparison as well. I think in this comparison Canada may be higher up the list.
I feel when we first found out about Aids, we should have handled it like we did other Plagues; if we could have quaratined it, we may have had a chance. And before everyone starts with the human rights arguments; I know about the human rights arguments, and such; and i understand them quite well, i just disagree with them in a case such as this.
I also feel that if someone transmits it to another person after they know they are infected; they should be charged with 1st degree premeditated murder.
*Ok i dont agree with this last part im writing, its just part of a song that the previous post made me think of*
Anyone ever hear AIDS by MOD.
Aids like the Plague is from god.

We need a cure for cancer and diabetes before aids. Or at least soon, please.

There are possiblities
Quote: | Curing diabetes
A disease consisting of the failure of a single organ with a relatively simple function (i.e., the failure of the Islets of Langerhans in type 1 diabetes), should be relatively straightforward to cure; merely replace the organ or its function. As of 2006, several possible schemes are under investigation. Type 2 diabetes is more complex and difficult, but further understanding of the underlying mechanism of insulin resistance may make more effective treatment possible, including perhaps a cure for some variants.
The most obvious approach to a Type 1 cure is to replace the failed organ (pancreatic beta cells) with more islet cells. A transplant of exogenous cells has been done experimentally in both mice and humans, but is not yet practical in regular clinical practice. Thus far, like any such transplant, it provokes an immune reaction and immuno-supressive drugs will be needed to protect the transplanted tissue. An alternative technique has been proposed to place the transplanted beta cells in a semi-permeable container, isolating them from the immune system. Stem cell research has also been suggested as a potential avenue for a cure since it may permit the regrowth of islet cells which are genetically part of the treated individual, thus eliminating the need for immuno-supressants. However, it has also been hypothesised that the same mechanism which led to islet destruction originally may simply destroy even stem-cell regenerated islets.
Microscopic or nanotechnological approaches are under investigation as well, with implanted stores of insulin metered out by a rapid response valve sensitive to blood glucose levels. At least two approaches have been proposed and demonstrated in vitro. These are, in some sense, closed-loop insulin pumps. |
But hey, there's a reason for the saying, "An Ounce of Prevention is Worth a Pound of Cure"

I dont know about 'fuckin bs' but still.
I dont think its the case. I cant see anyone or any persons being evil enough to do something like that. Nope. If people are that evil then there is no hope...

They are as evil as they are greedy. It's all about the money. Its the people that suffer and the companies that control the drugs that get richer. As for Hope? I am not holding my breath. I think we are going to end up killing everybody except for a few. It will be like the Dark Ages again. Those few will go on, start to populate again and the cycle will continue.

What a cheerful outlook....
I know what your sayin but...I dunno. I truly dont think ppl could be that evil.
I believe in a fundamental goodness thats in everyone.
You dont have hope? You dont have dreams?
Its good to have hope and dreams, its makes things that much more tolerable.

I watched a documentary on linktv on how they were doing major testing in africa of a smallpox vaccine or some other vaccine. If i remember right, they used certain parts of monkeys (one of the main reasons the testing was done in africa) to do the testing, and this is thought to be the source of the virus, something to do with the monkey carrying a strain of the virus that has mutated into what we know today as AIDS. With all of those eager test subjects and the rate they were making the vaccine without proper testing i wouldnt be surprised that it wasnt man made.
i tried a google search for the documentary and couldnt find anything.
