Windoze fucked up on my previous HD, figured its as good as time as any to upgrade my 2x 160gig HDs so I just bought 2 WD 320gig Hard Drives. Plug em in like normal, boot to my XP disk to install, first problem is it only sees each HD as 131gig.. im guessing this is down to the XP disk being the plain XP (no service packs included) then I try and install but it always fucks at about 2 or 4% saying could not find a certain file, please check its on the XP CD. If I ignore it finds more errors down the line. Never had this problem before, but I've never used SATA before.. anyone know how to fix this? I've tried looking for an OEM XP SP2 English disk but no luck, just german or dutch versions and even then I dont know if they would fix the problem..

The fact that only a portion of your total disk space is being seen by Windows setup, is due to no SATA drivers being included in plain XP. Setup then uses the standard SCSI drivers instead.

You have to press F6 at the start of the installation to load the SATA drivers that should be provided with the hard disks on a floppy. If you haven't got a floppy drive, like me, you have to make a custom bootable WinXP disc with the SATA drivers slipstreamed into it. You can use nLite for this.

If you do not do this, you will not be able to use the full disk space later. I've read that there is no way to change the hard disk driver after setup and be able to use the full disk space as a consequence.
