i will only buy it for the Source mod and hopefully Firearms if they create it for HL2
as for SP i will play it but wont really bother about it because i hate the storyline
i hate shit like alians and monsters in a FPS
like Doom 3 and Half Life 2
i am more like a real enemy type of player
as in SOF2

Exactly so the only multiplayer component in half life 2 will be counter-strike source until further development will follow. And from what we've seen, well we haven't seen day of defeat: source, we haven’t seen ricochet: source heck the only fucking things that we did see with the source tag were half life1: source and counter strike: source and I’m pretty sure counter strike is there because valve wants to sell their product. If counter strike were not implemented in half life 2 people wouldn’t buy it. Heck no one would buy it. It’s only logical to send out an online mod for a game that has some sort of reputation. Day of defeat even though better in game play is nothing compared to counter strike reputation wise. You go to any inet café and what do you see played? Counter Strike. Why?! WHY!

Wait wait wait wait a minute. You just said that no one would buy HL2 if it didn't come with counter strike. You think too much of Counter Strike. The first HL has been called the best PC game of all time by PC Gamer for like 5 years straight. It also had over 50 GOTY awards. I would buy HL2 with or without CS. Hell I bought Doom 3 and that doesn't have that big of a multiplayer and look how that's selling. Half-Life is a know name now. It's up there with Doom.

Doom is up there half life isn't. Half life is known for brining counter-strike to the needy kids from all over the world. Ask any 'recent' counter strike player did they play the single player of half life? Ask them! You know what they will say? IT SUCKS! IT'S HORRIBLE! COUNTER-STRIKE OWNS HALF LIFE! Half life won those awards because of its modding compatibility thus giving it begazillion (?) hours of replay time. Tell me how many times have you played the single player? More than the times you launched any online mod? I’ve talked to some of the counter strike commuters and I’ve asked them this many times. What is the most important thing you will be looking for in half life 2? They said counter-strike! I asked would you pay for half life 2 if counter-strike: source were free? They said NO! Face it! Not many people feel about half life as phlex feels about doom. It’s something you have to appreciate. You do appreciate half life 2 and I respect you for that but the only reason it will get sales is because of counter strike and then when further modifications will come out. If counter strike: source were free half life 2 would only leave it’s shelves because some people were curious but immediately they would go back playing their counter-strike: source after 15/20 minutes of playing the single player of half life 2. And do you know why they would go back to counter-strike? Because that it is AWESOME!

That is bollocks!
Half-Life won awards PURELY because of it's fantastic single player. Counter-strike wasn't even available for a good while after HL was released and it was getting loads of GOTY awards. People obviously played CS more because it's multiplayer and it has more replayability to it.
I've preordered Half Life 2 because of the single player and the fact that it will be absolutely amazing just like the original Half Life.
Doom is well liked because it created a genre. Doom 3 isn't half the game that Half Life was and, when I say that, I'm purely talking about the single player.
When I think of Half Life I don't think of Counterstrike - I think of one of the most amazing single player games I've played in my life.
EDIT: Btw, all those "reasons" you gave for Counterstrike making Half Life the game it was came from Counterstrike players. What the fuck do you expect? Of course Counterstrike players are going to be anticipating CS:Source!

Alot of the current CS players would say that because HL came out many years ago so the singleplayer seems out of date. When it first came out HL singleplayer was fantastic, now it seems old. I played through the original HL singleplayer, opposing force and blue shift and they were all excellent.
I bought HL generations but never played CS, because it's boring, there are far better multi-player games out. The only reason why people still play it now is because they've been playing for so long they're afraid of losing their status. If CS had never been heard of and it came out now, everyone would think it's crap.
These people are too afraid to move on, they know no better.

Exactly! Counter strike is horrible. It is a shame that the only current multiplayer component for the [super hero voice] MOST ANTICIPATED GAME OF ALL TIME [/super hero voice] is something so fucking boring. If only valve put some of their creative intuitive thinking they put into creating a single player and put it to create a multiplayer then I’m sure we would have seen the best [comic book guy voice] EVER [/comic book guy voice] online expeirence:D

It's a shame you probably think you're being sarcastic when this is the first time you've actually made sense. Something involving the physics would be great, also the vehicles could be put to good use. There are so many options other then a crappy rehash of an old game. wolfenstien..doom etc created a genre but half life defined it. At its time of arrival the AI that came with half life was revolutionary. The whole cinematic feel of half life was ground breaking. First time i played it it was like the most amazing game experience ever. I have high hopes for HL2, we'll have to wait and see

Ok:
1) Half-Life won all of those GOTY awards (and a year or two of those Best PC Game of all time by PC Game) BEFORE CS came out.
2) I've beaten HL 5 times. Sure it's not more than how many times I've launched a MOD for it but it's still a good amount. Also I bought the game when it first came out not later on. Hell I was playing it on a POS P120mhz that didn't meet the requirements but it ran fine and I still enjoyed it (hmmm kinda reminds me of now with Doom 3).
3) Out of CS, Day of Defeat, and the Specialist I've played The Specialist the most then Day of Defeat then CS. I've probably played CS for only a month while the others much more.
4) The #1 thing I'm looking forward to with HL2 is its single player. And of course if you ask CS players what's the #1 thing you're looking forward to with HL2 they will say CS: Source. They're CS players!!! What you expect!?!
5) Saying that it wouldn't sell at all if it didn't include CS is absurd. A sequel to one of the best games of all time would sell no matter what. You see people not buying the Final Fantasy games? Or the Mario games? Zelda? GTA? Or Doom 3 for that matter since it doesn't have a big multiplayer.
6) Many CS players are annoying and immature 13 year olds that wouldn't know a great single player game if it came up and bit them in the ass.
7) Do you know how many people were wowed and excited when HL2 was first announced and shown. That was a year BEFORE CS: Source was even announced.
8 ) I would rather have the BEST Single player experience rather than the best multiplayer experience. I'd rather have them spend all their time working on a great single player. Fuck multiplayer. SP > MP
I see that you like NOLF 1 & 2. I thought NOLF 1 was an excellent game but was disappointed with the second. I thought the humor and the levels weren't as good.
AnimalMother how could you say that HL2 is gonna be a crappy rehash of the same game?
