So, I finished the game the other day. Fantastic.. The ending was SUPERB. I had no performance problems whatsoever. Game ran silky smooth on my 6800GT/2ghz athlon on the highest settings, 1280x960 2xAA max AF. Anyway, so I go back to try to collect some of the weapons I've missed, and now after a couple minutes of regular play, a series of 5 second pauses start and I can hear my harddrive making noises.. The first time it happened I got a weird windows notification about how windows couldn't save the last temp log or something...
So, I restarted and I still get the same problem. About 2~3 minutes into playtime, the game starts pausing for 5 seconds at a time and then another second or so inbetween each pause until I ctrl+alt+del out and kill the process. This is really weird, I haven't installed any new drivers or programs since I first installed it. I even tried the new reloaded crack and that didn't help. I fear I may have a failing hard drive on my hands, so I'm running chkdsk right now. But just in case that shows no errors, anybody have any advice for me?

What noises is the hard drive making? Is it like a loud clicking noise? Also, what kind of hard drive is it and how long have you had it? It could be a failing hard drive, but if it only does that in the game it could be something else too. Try checking to see if the power cables are properly plugged in too. This happened to me one time after I had changed out the drives.
