Running Scared - 8/10 - Really enjoyable action thriller with a lot of twists and suspense. Far better than I expected.

Running scared: nice action and camera work, but how many bad things can happen to a kid walking alone inf NYC. I mean every person he encountered was either a psycho or seriously disturbed. Stil very enjoyable, 6.5/10

Mission Impossible 3: my expectations were so low for this one it could only better than expected. I thought i'd see a brainless action flick, seems there's stil a plot in it too. Not as much as in the first one (which had a great story), but stil more than in the second one (how many latex masks can one pull out of his ass in & movie, and who the hell carries a latex mask of himself Neutral ). 6/10

just came home from The Da Vinci Code, liked it alot.
I had huge expectations because i loved the book, but those expectations sank when i saw the reviews. But in the end it was really good, stayed true enough to the book, cool flash-back effects and a good story (no shit!!)
8,5/10, definately one of the best movies so far this year

With Jackie chan! 7/10

But the humourous parts = 10/10

Very Happy The Escape was hilarious. Hahahah

Agree that the book is not well written, however, it is exciting, it keeps you on the edge all the time and when you read it, you don't want to put it away.
Sure, the characters are clichees and the dialogue is fairly poor, but it is an enjoyable book. Same goes for the movie

yesterday saw the da vinci code. i will give it a 7 of 10.
i don't know why ppl critizises the labor of director howard in this movie. he based himself strictly to the book, and he cannot make a diamond if the base materials are more or less than copper.

anyway, i found the book one of the best anti-church books till now. good story and good argument. it atacks the church in the basis.
on the otherhand, didn't find the movie so much anti-church as the book was... kinda strange.

my gf, which knows and wants to know nothing about the church, and sees the opus dei as a menace for the free minded ppl (and also a menace for themselves), did find the movie kinda boring and stupid. (she kissed me alot during the movie, and that means she was not inmersed or even entertained watching it) acting was overall good.

conclussion: a good movie to see, to download and to keep. nothing new tho, but good to keep and wait for the aliens to come, and show it to them, as a part of the dark side of the church -which we all allready know-. got a 2 hours 30 min of mental abstraction. the one who entered chatolic to watch it, go out as the same chatolic that entered. (and that is the sad part )

Glad you liked the movie. Lotta readers who loved the book will love the movie, I'm sure.
But those 'educated' kind who don't get easily sunk into pretentious bull shit (no offense) will see the book and the movie for what it really is: Shit Very Happy

I’m sorry, but it’s true. Some will look at rush hour 2 and think it’s awesome, while others will look at once upon a time in America and think it’s awesome. Two kind of people walk this lonely earth and while those who hold most credit will favor shit like rush hour 2 and even xmen 3 the others will be treated like shit just because they don’t want to be the hollow men: constantly told by the media what they should/shouldn’t like.

Very Happy We’re all sheep one way or another, but still, in my honest opinion the book is full of shit. The story is shit. It’s not even well written. It’s just a story well put together.

It sparked controversy all around the globe. Millions of people read and liked the book. Millions of people were suckered into liking the book. So, in all honesty millions of people will love the movie.

But the critics are right on this one, and I think they failed to see it with other Ron Howard movies. Ron Howard sucks as a director. He stays right in front of the line and does only safe movies with a safe subject line.Very Happy But he has a hot daughter Very Happy : : : : : : : : : : : : :

I say bullshit to that load of bullshit Razz

there's a third kind of person, someone who doesn't go to watch Rush Hour thinking it's an intellectual crime triller and similarly chooses to watch Once Upon A Time In America without the expectation that it's a SciFi set on Venus.

You see... you've fallen into the trap, don't fret though, others have too. The Da Vinci Code Novel does not try to be what the media have attempted to make it. In fact, on one of the first few pages it states that it's mostly fiction with the soul purpose of being a crime/conspiracy thriller. And to that end, it does a good job.

Yeah. The story is well established. It's what kept the book read. And like i said, those who liked/loved the book will love/like the movie.

Ron Howard is the man for the job. Like DB, Ron can establish a story to make it entertaining, but it's not done well enough to make into a good movie. (<<< can be said about every of his movies. They’re entertaining. But they’re not good. Very Happy)

Kumkss, the book isn’t anti-church at all. It’s not even meant to be anti-church. It’s just a story. It’s a work of fiction. The church only sees it as anti-church because millions of idiotic people read the book and began to believe what it said (and the media only let the hype spread even further).
Those who read it and found it entertaining, have the right to do so, but those who have read it and began believing there’s a majestic conspiracy going on… well…

That’s sad.
Nothing more.

It’s just saddening to see (for me at least) that you seem to have taken the media surrounding the book very seriously. Sad

I’ll go see the DVC. I’m not expecting a masterpiece, like all of Howard’s work, but I am expecting an entertaining movie. Very Happy I hope I’ll get that at least.

No. The media has been so kind to separate people into two groups.
Populists.
Elitists.

Populists enjoy popular stuff. (There’s more of them)
They love and think greatly of movies like Rush Hour, RV, MI3 etc.

Elitists are snobs of our society. They think highly of themselves and think poorly of the populists.
They love and think greatly of movies by the directors like, David Lynch, Sergio Leone, Tarantino, Kubrick... etc.

There is no third category anymore. You're either populists or Elitists.
You may like both cultures, but you always lean more towards one.

Very Happy

True. But people have failed to see that. The book, in my opinion, is nothing but rubbish. The media has made the book into something fantabolous. Razz And people fell for that and those who love it are 'cool' and those who don't are fags, idiots, homos, losers, cunts, low lives, outcasts. Very Happy

the DVC is the cigarettes of middle school. If you don't smoke, you're not cool.

Yes. The book is entertaining. Tell that to all those assholes that spent their money to fly into france and go into the Louvre just to see if the book was really fiction.
I mean WHAT THE FUCK!?

Sorry for the delayed reply, I had some filing to do. Very Happy

Injurious, i found the book anti-church, even if it is a story. but you're right. i have to admit i have fallen into the marketing system, but didn't take it seriously.

if i make a book that contains a story, scfi, on how bush jr, did celebrate a hidden alliance with some powerfull companies to destroy the wtc on ny, and try to apper as much documentated as possible, nobody can say it ain't a anti-bush or anti american system story.

or more extreme, if i tell a story, that denies the holocaust saying that is pure scfi, and that it was phisicaly and logical impossible to exterminate 6 millions of jews, and document it, probably, i would be sued, prosecuted, and condemned to jail because of it (as the inquisition have do). all will be convinced that im an anti-jew crazy nazi pig.

same occurs with this. even if in its origins the writer didn't wanted to be an anti church story, finally it converted in it. he or the media, or the persons who read the book or watched the film.

SciFi

If you say it is sci-fi up front people will no got crazy on your ass. If you were to write a fictional book about how you murdered a Jewish family because they were Jewish, it doesn't make you anti-Semitic nor does it make the book anti-Semitic. The idea in the book promotes anti-Semitism, but if you feel the same way as the book then people have the right to call you an anti-Semite and stone you to death.

As for your anti-America book: as long as you say it is fiction and you don’t force the reader into figuring out that it is fiction, no one will call you anti-American. If they did, then they’re retarded and you should just walk away and never look back. Very Happy

See, as long as you say that the book is pure fiction, people shouldn't consider the book or you anything else than an author who wrote a book. The idea in the book may spark social controversy, but as long its fiction, it's nothing more than an idea.

And ideas shouldn’t go further than where they went on the paper. The media and the church have taken the idea from DVC and made it into something much more. And that’s what I hate. They’ve turned the book/the author into something that can only be considered as anti-Christ.

Sad

Sympathy for Lady Vengeance - 10/10
Wow. I can't believe how great this movie is. I loved both Sympaty for Mr Vengeance and Oldboy, so my expectations were huge for this one, but I have to admit, it was just as good as I could've posibly hoped for. Everything from acting and dialogue to shooting was absolutely amazing. Park has made another masterpiece!

Skeleton Key - 6/10 - Pretty nice little horror flick though way to little suspense and horror elements though the ending is quite satisfying.

Inside Man - 7/10 - Nice camera work solid performance from Clive Owen and nice non-cliché moments.

I loved the show so I loved the movie. I still watch the re-runs. Cancellation happens to a lot of the scifi stuff I find. I think its too much thinking for the average tv watcher. Watching other people fumble in reality shows makes them feel all superiour. The average TV watcher likes to watch more of that mainstream stuff like reality shows. (surviror I watch if smallville isn't new)

The movie had a lot of stuff that upset the fans, Wash dying for one, Jayne being too smart. That movie only got made for the flan's. There is a 2nd script written but will never be done. Zoe is pegnant and Books past.

I almost fell asleep to this pos...seriously, the story is ridiculous and the acting is...horrible.

Underworld: Evolution 7/10
A decent action movie.

The Da Vinci Code 6/10
Way to hyped and boring mostly. The actual myth of Priory of Sion and the grail/bloodline is very interesting, but this movie just doesnt do it.

The Da Vinci Code

I liked the message it tries to give and that's surely not about faith, believers/unbelievers. Maybe because the church is involved but its not that.
