try this:
you experience any issues in game this could be linked to your sound card, try reducing the hardware acceleration option within the DXDIAG tool - Run DXDIAG and move the slider option to the left within the SOUND tab.

Didn't help. Just as little as EAX on/off in game. The sound just starts crackling when the sound acceleration is off...

Im currently doing a disc defrag and clean up and im then gonna reinstall the ati drivers and see if that works. Its so irritating having these stupid frame rate problems, ive been looking foward to this game for ages. Has anybody tried rolling back to old graphics drivers??

Defragged already, multiple times. Didn't help a bit.
My downloads are finished now though. I'll try through all the drivers now for y'all.

New GFX drivers didn't help, none of the betas.
I don't think it's a graphics card specific problem, since it occurs with different generation GPU's of both ATI and nVidia cards.
Defragging and shutting off programs/disabling unused hardware doesn't solve the problem either.
Using CureROM or the SecuROM Loader 1.2 doesn't make a difference.
So we either have to wait until the game is released and a patch is published, or someone has a lot of luck and finds the problem...

Same problem for me, there are short periods when it is very smooth making me sure that it's not a graphics card issue. It's possible it might be the copy protection or CureROM not working right...

Running:
AMD 4000+
NV 7800GTX 512
Audigy2
2GB Ram
SP2
Latest drivers ofcourse and I did not have 1 single issue with this game, not one!
Mount and install with DT and run with CureROM, all latest versions.

"If your getting a BSOD with an error about the nv4disp.dll, then this is most likely a driver issue. More specifically the old ones were not cleaned off properly. When installing drivers you should uninstall old ones using device manager, then use a free program called driver cleaner pro to clean off any remnants of the old drivers, because the uninstall alone will not do this. By using driver cleaner to ‘clean’ nvidia drivers, it gives you a fresh slate to install the new ones. This means that old drivers wont conflict with new ones in any way, and wont cause problems like the one you are having. Hope this helps…"

I've tried the catalyst official 6.4 drivers, the beta 6.5 drivers and the latest omega drivers and all have the same performance problems. I've given up for now.

I tried the ati 5 series drivers (5.12) and the game is working perfect now with all setting maxed.
For nVidia try rolling back to a set of drivers from about december 05

Xp2800+
1gig Ram
9800pro 128
Getting the same performance issues, was running 5.10's, upgraded to 6.4's, no difference, changing options makes no framerate increase/decrease, it just always runs like pure shit.
