like i said, they have been ok with that, which has been the tradition of SW since before Disney.
There are in fact a lot of fan sw games, such as the dark forces 2 remake in latest Unreal and a bunch of other SW related fan projects. There are tons of star wars movies on youtube which are fan made, some AI, some live action.
Impressive stuff indeed, it's nice to see such a long-standing project finally getting released. The Freespace community is crazy when it comes to modding, as there are giant TCs for practically every popular franchise around (The Babylon Project, The Wing Commander Saga etc.)
