There is one glaring weak point in these movies, and it is Chani. Kind of ruins the movies for me.
They changed her from the books, and thus the romance is completely unbelievable. She is a skeptic of Paul at every turn, yet in love with him? Fuckoff. Doesn't work. In the books her motivation was deeper, and their alliance made sense.
And then there is Zendaya's delivery - piss poor. Less than zero. She is a very poor actress, all hype.
Her character is completely infantilized (especially if you are a book reader). She has zero depth and as such is very illogical and out of place.
I love Villeneuve (I think Sicario is like a 10/10 movie, truly a great), but I think he didn't trust the audience's intelligence on this one, and just made a poor decision.
