Q: How will co-op work across Campaign and Crusade? Will there be dedicated co-op missions, adaptive enemy numbers, save/reload support and the ability for players to join later?
Elliott: Every campaign can be played in co-op. You and your partner share control of the same army, and each player can see which units the other currently has selected. While one player is issuing orders to a unit, the other can’t take control of it until it’s deselected. It feels intuitive and avoids the usual RTS problem of both players fighting over the same units. Saving and loading are fully supported btw! You can save a single player game, invite a friend, and continue it in co-op, or carry on alone from a co-op save.
Jan: Co-op also a great answer to one of the genre’s biggest challenges: you can’t be everywhere at once. One player can attack the left flank while the other takes the right, one can defend while the other attacks, or one can manage the economy and base while the other focuses on combat. This also makes co-op great for less experienced players to learn the game without having to manage everything themselves.
