This has been Rockstar's method of advertisement for decades now. At least since GTA4, but pretty sure for San Andreas too. The bigger the budget, the more incentive there is to advertise.

I never replied to this type of reply. because I honestly do not know what it is suppose to imply other than a thing so wrong in premise it defeats itself without my help.

Every game is a waste of money. Why its called expendable money, you waste it on stuff you want to, not necessities.

I just love it that you know how to spend or save Take Two’s money.
I mean, my education included (useless) marketing.
And DX we're talking about advertisement, not the game.

I don't care, my opinion of how much money is wasted in general in advertisement has formed few decades ago. It won't change.
Wasted is subjective.
Most the time they get returns (aggregated across all ad campaigns) higher than the cost of the advertising, so its a business win.
And its a law of averages. Not every marketing scheme will work, but long as 51% do its worth doing.
(Not to mention some marketing for a product isn't really about the product. Its about the company name tied to that product. An eventually failed product that spread company name recognition is still an ad win. Random Mt Dew flavors is a great example of this. Flavor fails but people remember Pepsi/Mt Dew. They aren't selling the product in the ad, they are setting a name in your head, people buy brands they heard of, even if a different item made by them.)
I'd wager I don't have an educated opinion on it any more valid than anyone else here (probably far less than some).
But they can spend millions on research into it, and each business has a collective decades of employees college years study into it. So it must be turning a profit otherwise no one would keep doing it.
I myself say if I spent 2 billion on marketing, and made 2 billion and 1 dollars back. marketing was successful.

@Morphineus Whenever I think 'this sucks mate' I think of how much it could suck elsewhere, sure, pay could be better but I got a really good friend with me as my coworker and I can still do 'other' stuff in between. Establishing that in a new job could be risky.
And I don't want to work MORE for a field that is notoriously in danger of layoffs I'm quite safe so far as alternatives for my varied skillset (and patience) are scarce and I fully make use of the AI tools to have even more free time making my life easier.
Winter vacay also in sight (earlier plan in August with my best friends I couldn't come due to multiple reasons) so some of those days are bound to land on GTA VI

You spent money and got something in return, i dont see that a waste of money per se - maybe a bad deal if its not to your liking but wasted would mean to me i spent it on something that i already have like buying multiple copies of one.

Yea in my eyes. A harmful waste of time, and just wasting time are different. Wasted != useless or bad. Just money you chose to entertain yourself with vs better yourself with is all. And all betterment with no fun would be dull. We all spend money on both.
Again like you said its subjective. To me, if it's something you spent money on not to to do one of the goals of life: be born, make more of you, die. Or to better yourself/others, to be able to do those things.
It was 'wasted' money you spent to fill the time between doing those things with something, as those things have a lot of downtime.
We jsut have different philosophies. Someone hedonistic would consider it the exact opposite of the way I do.
