So I started playing SH2 Remake little over a week ago. I have to admit, it's actually quite creepy and eerie. I really like it. I barely remember what SH2 looked like and I don't care. This is gorgeous in it's own bleak way. The only issue I have so far is that there's so much running around looking for a key you need with no hint where it actually is. I'm in the wood-something apartments and it feels like I've been running around there for ages.
Anyway, it's a great game with great atmosphere. 'nuff said.
I stopped playing. I love the atmosphere but the game has become so annoying with "find this item, with little to no clues, by searching for it for an hour in random places by backtracking in order to progress", over and over again.
I stopped playing after i explored the hospital, fought the hospital boss, then it turned into some kind of burning nightmare hospital that the game wanted me to explore all over again.
Then i looked up how long the game was, because i thought i was making progress about 8 hours in. I wasn't even half way through the game. Devs doubled the game length from the original (that i admittedly never played tbh).
Incredibly unoptimized piece of shit, the loading/shader right at the start pushed the laptop's cpu >100ºC, what the fuck?! I've tried many ue5 games here just for the lulz (wuchang, hell is us, stalker2), but this one was the first to do that.
Based on this, definitely will NOT try it on the desktop until xmas so this will be on hold until then

Well well well
So uhhhhhh, great game.
Actually went back to it on the laptop while on vacation in order to test this with the profiles/cpu temp limit, ran better than expected and had some serious fun.
Finished it yesterday (the one time) and am on NG+ now; as a SH game it's easier with story combat and hard puzzles than 1 and 3 (never played 2, will probably check the remake maybe); no idea about 4 and all the other (supposedly) shit western/non team silent games.
The only puzzle that led me to google was
Spoiler:
the very first phase of the schoolroom sliding lunchbox one, how the fuck are you supposed to guess that you can leave some of the slots covered?!
, everything aside from that one was doable if you think about it and look at stuff/your journal closely.
Combat is simple but satisfying, at least with story combat the weapon duration and availbility weren't an issue since the game also gives you means to evade/stealth enemies thanks to the omomori mechanics. Those also allow you to eventually pick and choose for some sort of build from mid-game on, and certainly on each NG forwards.
Love the exploration and the japan 60's rural setting, it's really very charming IMO and as for the story, well if you played it you know how that works; sure as hell has some brutally graphical violent moments. Call me crazy, but will definitely drop some ARPESOS on this when there's a nice discount.
Now for question: which do I play next if my favorite parts on f were the exploration. combat, dread in the background and least favorite parts were the couple short but annoying you-turn-the-wrong-corner-you-die chase sequences?
Silent Hill 2 remakeshit or Silent Hill N?

Play 2. Not the best combat in either the og or remake but it's better than townfall by a lot from what I've seen. It's more about the setting and story. The horror in it isn't just about spooky monsters n shit.
