Its t be expected. Broody areas and scenes are now bright and chippy as a midsummers day. I don't get how they can release it in this state. I was really looking forward to a new playthrough before the DLC, but i guess it'll be the original again. I certainly hope people can perform some magic with reshade addons and mods in general
I'm also looking for the renodx resahde mod. That cuntfuck is paywalling it for 5 USD hoping to earn some money during the rush. If i REALLY wanted to play it now i'd likely get it, but i'm not in a hurry. But that mod might actually make some good changes.
the bloom is aids wtf is wrong with these people . how is that playable
at least my 5700xt is old enough to not have the issue but the launcher sure made sure to pop in my face to tell me im an amd pleb with out of date drivers roflol
Because the pipeline in Witcher is artist oriented, vs. physics oriented. Lighting was made for a completely different set of rules, which they are now trying to bend for buzz words.
100%. The game looks better in OG mode because that's the intended artistic vision. Applying "realistic" light bounces and all that just destroys that resulting in a "this doesn't look like the witcher but a marvel movie" result.
I'm glad people are noticing. I guess Nshittia doesn't like it when there are games that both look & run great on hardware people can actually afford because devs actually put in the work of careful light placement, asset optimization and color tuning. This new tech is nice and all but it is absolutely being used as way to pass the optimization work bill to the consumer.

There's an "OFF" feeling about the new "atmosphere". Like it was never meant to be this way.
(Almost) everything feels unnatural, forced, artificial. It's crossing beyond artistic value and into too much tech for the sake of tech.
And if you look a bit more in depth, there is NO eye-candy, NO ground-breaking visuals, NO massive improvements in visuals. All this 'upgrade' that costs 80% of your framerate at the 'new', 'modern', '2026', max settings.

Cmon man, wtf?!
Exactly how old games feel when you tack on a modern lighting engine. W3 is a PBR era game. PBR was already a huge shift from the before times, but it was still largely an artist-oriented pipeline, where artists suddenly had to provide the entire material description. It was a lot less forgiving than before, so any bad material shaders or textures were very apparent. But still artist-controlled, and not hyper-realistic. Whereas a ray- or path- or turd-traced engine takes most art out of the artists' hand, other than direct control of lighting. Any cheating becomes obvious. Artists are now expected to be world-class cinematographers, or the result is uncanny valley.
I tried it, I really don't get what graphical improvement I should be seeing here. Its the same but blurrier? Less contrast?
I don't get it. But I don't have any time or need to replay this anyway.

It wouldn’t surprise me if this remustarding job were handled by some junior team since many of the people responsible for the original game (and ol’ REDengine) are no longer there -- while pretty much everyone else is knee-deep in Angina territory working on Ciri 4, the next Kurwapunk, and so on.
There's some micro-stuttering / micro-jitter to camera when you move / look around, no matter what settings I use, RT/PT off included.
Also, the lighting is still very off / bright even without RT/PT.
How much did nVidiAI paid these guys to artistically butcher their game... ?!
I had this issue, but I’m on Linux. The solution was to sign out of the CDPR account in the main menu. Runs buttery smooth now.
