damn, so people are seemingly getting it to work with 3000 series and with decent FPS... i guess i will let them cook and hold off on the 5070 ti purchase.. would be nice to be able to wait for the 6000 series instead.
is it though? as far as i understand you can scale the filter intensity up and down and use diff settings/lighting so thats why there can be "different" outcomes. Plus in motion it can look a tad differnt compared to just a captured screenshot i feel:
the guy in the video just pushes it to 100%
As i mentioned lightning has some influence aswell and the tifa and aerith scene makes it more clear imo
This example actually looks really good. Some of the other ones i've seen look terrible, but moreso because it looks like the saturation/shading/contrast is bumped up to levels of retardation.. not to mention the over sharpening.

not really different outcomes, you can go from having a little of it to what he uses in the video, which is full intensity and as you can see its not as extreme as that.. that's just someone who gave an AI the image and said make it look real.
While i think Vavra is an idiot i do agree with him on this... i just saw on the steam subreddit 10K likes for saying people are totally crazy for thinking this looks good.
people are fucking insane. the anti-ai brainrot is so fucking tedious sometimes.
I've not seen an example where it looks worse i think, apart from when there are errors... this is a mod and its a pre-release and its not even the official pipeline of how it would be done for an official game as i understand it.
As for people saying it's "going against the artistic vision", give me break. "oh no, the texture on the clothes and skin looks more real, the shadows and the lighting looks more realistic - it was not their visision!!!!" Sigh. I have gotten i too for my retextures "bUt YoU addEd dEtailS!!"
It's certainly weird when done on games like The Sims, clearly not the idea but for something like stalker, uncharted, star wars outlaws, black flag etc... how does making it more detailed go against the artistic vision.

.
So you are saying different settings will result in different results so basically different outcomes? Yes that's what i was saying but thanks for confirming and not confirming it
As for "just an a.i. image" these two look pretty close to me even if the right pic was a.i. generated.
Left is from the video i posted and right is the "a.i. slop" post picture.
The character on the right is in an area with shade and there are different lighting settings with dlss 5 or at least in this video there are. Plus there are 2 FF7 games which might explain minimal details.
that is exactly how img-img works... anyways, i saw a post on reddit doing the comparison and on the strongest setting it looked nothing like that.
so the outcome aren't as different as the fake one, that is what i am saying. the only so called outcome is scaling BACK, so the effect would be more like the default game, that's the only outcome.

there is a slider that you can push from 0.00 to 2.00 incrementally.
Could be 1.1 coulld be 2.0 could be something inbetween plus the lighting settings.
Some youtube videos use the setting moderatly and dont go ultra .
Btw just to clarify I'm not against DLSS 5. Biggest concern I have is it tanking fps (at least the leaked version is unoptimized) and possible overreliance from devs. If it's something optional why the hell not. New technologies might evolve and get refined same for DLSS 5 plus no need to crank it up to 1000%.
I get 32 FPS in KCD2, but that's at 1080p. it does look stunning, it's truly cinematic, nature and colors, shadows/light, it looks like a Remake and the original game is already great looking which is kind of telling of how much of an upgrade it is..
I'll put up the 3090 for sale and order the 5070 ti, hopefully it doesnt sell out before i can order.

Im also wondering if since it's 'borrowed' from a specific game, if a lot of the issue is that it can be made 'for' that game, like a AI model.
So one for realistic face in NBA, isn't what it would look like in another game using one for it.
Get what i'm saying? It can be tuned by the game devs the 'same' as how different flux/sdxl/pony/whatever models look different. Not same-same. But hope you get what I mean.

Imo you get the best results with games that go for a realistic look and have "less detail and the worst results with animeish games that have "weird" proportions.
On twitter/youtube there are lots of examples.
Trails in the sky remake is the worst there is and im ff7 remake looks bad in the "highest" setting because it is a mix of anime like features with realism mixed in. (huge irisis (eye) and pointy face shapes) etc. and well as you said it's a leaked unoptimized build anyhow.

It's seems like it's a general-purpose model, but how intense things should look can already be reached.
Exactly how many sliders exists and if they can all be reached, no idea. There could be a lot more to it than we know.
But i am sure there will be a lot of development for this, maybe some games will have their own version of it which is changed for anime or similar, or maybe they just improve upon this model to fit more styles. There's no official word on this from nvidia, at least chatgpt could not find it.
Having looked at probably 100's these DLSS 5 videos now, i think GTA 5 is the one which stands out the most. I dont know why but it changes the lighting more than the other games i have seen.
