I love it. It's basically img-img (what i use when i do "remasters" of textures for games).
as an action figure collector, this looks like the difference between a $10 action figure and a $500 hot toys figure
But the improved faces / clothing is just the icing on the cake, colors are VASTLY improved and more accurate. Nature looks sick. I would love to have this for something like Kingdom Come 2...
I don't get it either. How are the faces better before, they have no definition, they look like mass produced cheap action figures where they could not afford to do realism.
People are such clowns sometimes. Faces in games are honestly quite terrible, this makes them 10x better.
This dude is currently playing GTA 5 with it and it looks incredible imo. its a bit broken during night time, but its alpha so..
I mean it’s like Skyrim modding, which btw. already managed to implement it, the end result pretty much depends entirely on the input and how people want it to look
Some go for a very hard realistic look, something for a very shiny plasticy look and some for mild middles
All in all, personal computers are going out with a bang with very close to rendered games thanks to extensive AI driven post processing
There is a downside here: it cuts your FPS in half. Also you could ask the question if the stuff would look better if the original game is just rendered it like the DSLSS 5 version instead of adding some AI upscaler. The first could also be done by better modeling tools and deeplearning/AI to save time and resources getting a better result probably. That's the fear I guess: lazy devs that don't give a fuck and just use an upscaler to improve the visuals.
Still it's great tech, there is no reason for hate. In the end devs will use what works best.
Like many things AI it looks off enough for me to not like it. Its a matter of taste though.
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."
Personally think I would finish the original games first, but would then be nice to replay with DLSS 5 applied to some extent - no different to playing around with a few mods really.
stalker.. very low poly heads but still looks quite good i think
i do think it ages people quite a bit though which might not always fit.
Are those real, though? Agree that they look much better but I'm suspicious that DLSS5 was able to make those improvements from the lower quality originals.

It's definitely an alea iacta est kind of scenario where decisions have already been made, and we ought to accept them whether we like it or not. I think there is potential in this if used properly (in terms of environmental effects also) without interfering too much with the original vision, though several of the wip results so far have that uncanny-like look that feels awkward to me in a borderline unsettling way
Do we know what new gpu's we are to expect from Nvidia or any other company next year? I want a new one for my main pc so my gf can have the one ive got, but im in no hurry yet.
