Yes, this looks extremely dated and cliché.

the trailer with the fucking animals made me Reaction

cute cgi-animals, yeah, like that is going to impress anyone in the age of AI.

I love that no one will give a fuck about these cheap "let's add some cool CGI and people will go to see it!" movies soon. Fuck off James Cameron and Fuck off Spielberg who thinks he can cash in on something like that in 2026.

We are back to great stories or something unique no one did, or don't do it.

I'm more and more inclined to believe in the fermi-paradox (it's not a paradox)

Yep, grandpa is quite out of touch with modernity, living in the past, at least, quarter century back, when this kind of movie would have been more appropriate, believable and successful.

I quite like a lot of movies from 25 years ago. Some might argue that was a pretty high point in movie making overall. What exactly is bad about this movie? I haven't seen it.

I went to the cinema expecting to see a stale movie after all your 'raving' reviews Laughing , but I was grabbed since minute 1 till the end. Okay, the end is a bit over the top in suspension disbelief Laughing but overall, to me, felt like it had heart. Like a classic movie, yes. I enjoyed it Smile

Disclosure Day builds
itself as a movie of big ideas, but ultimately it feels small both intellectually and creatively. And worst of all, it's a movie that feels weirdly
dated and irrelevant now despite a few clunky references to AI and current-day conflict zones[...] Disclosure Day
feels like it's trying to grapple with the angst and fascinations of 30 years ago when shows like the X-Files were all the rage. Nowadays, I feel like if they
actually came out and admitted that aliens exist, most people are so wrapped up in their own problems and petty squables that they wouldn't even give a shit And that's exactly the way I felt.

It's a bit of transcript from the Critical Drinker spoiler review:

That's what's bad about this movie, however, I still believe it's worth watching as a classic Spielberg made movie with all of his tricks and tropes. Just pretend you are watching it 20-30 years ago, that's what I had to do to enjoy it.

For me it had rhythm from the start, it had believable characters (in the movie's context) supported by really good actors, and the hide'n'seek plot was quite entertaining. The ending, before the ending-ending Razz was great and emotional, with just the right amount of emotions and constrained spectacularity. Exactly what I've demanded from the film. And the message was old-fashioned but exhasperatedly in need today. Also, John Williams...

Just watched. This was embarrassingly bad. 4/10 is about right.

Not worth a watch when there are so many good TV series and classics you likely havent watched or didnt rewatch for a long time, watch that and be happy you did instead of this.

Its mainly a movie about people with psychic powers and its super generic + dumb. Cops trying to sneak up but everyone uses the blue lights etc lol, there are tons of moments like that.

Has some good vibes in the beginning and end, you definitely feel the Spielberg aura

but what a dumb script, terrible pacing in the middle

I also watched it in the meanwhile. Sadly, I don't see the Spielberg magic in this one. I have seen almost all of his movies and consider him a legend. But had I not known this was his movie, I would not have thought so during watching it. Very generic.

Colin Firth was wasted on this, but Emily Blunt was actually great, with what she was given.

Plot was completely meh. The only directorial achievement in the ending segment, which was a well put together 10 minutes.

not a bad movie but when u know who is behind this is disappointing. the premise and the ending are great but how we get there is not that interesting. would have liked more of that ending.
