Wtf was argentina's plan? First I thought that they'd turn it on on the 2nd half but it seemed like more of the same (at least by the stats, was on audio only 90% of the time during the match).
Did the team got compromised by being more active in all the games before? Were they somehow convinced they had the best defense? LOL

Thoroughly deserved indeed, Spain should have won by a considerably larger margin but they were awfully wasteful despite dominating from start to finish. Argentina had no answer to Spain's midfield and since they were beyond gassed they activated Plan B: play dirty and hope for a random moment of Messi magic. Too bad with the brainless duo Enzo + Paredes and the license to kill it was just a matter of time before something dumb happened, and Messi finally showed his age tonight by delivering an almost flawless Cristiana The Monolith impersonation.

They were (physically) compromised since before the start of the tournament, not to mention that they didn't play nearly as well as in 2022, it's almost a (Messi) miracle that they got to the final game.

Anyway, good thing the best overall team won the trophy again.

What a cry baby Messi. Seems they have no plot armor this time.

The best team won. France and England were probably better on paper, but Spain did their homework and was able to create a proper team with no big egos around. A huge respect to them. Argentina without Messi will be just another Paraguay.

Absolutely, it's not a coincidence that Spain just set the longest unbeaten streak in men's international history. And many of their players are still young...they could potentially double down next time at home Razz

I actually believe France wasn't anywhere near as balanced as many claimed this year - they had ridiculously impressive attacking options and good central defenders, but their midfield wasn't quite up to the task, especially this time without Griezmann doing the dirty work and link-ups. Back in 2018 there was also ol' trusty Kante in cyborg_mode alongside Pogba and his great long-passing abilities (one of his last years as a professional footballer), a pretty suited combo. I mean, when Rabiot is the fulcrum of your team then something isn't right, and I'm familiar with that Laughing

On a side note, the biggest what if/turning point for Spain was probably Courtois' injury that decided the match against Belgium (along with Tielemans/Onana being absent there), because I'm not sure they would have won that one.
