The voice in the show is not Legacy. The Bernard library room with the Siri tablet is Legacy.

The "Pact" is an Orwellian name too, for the real "pact", revealed later.

"Pact", "Order", "Legacy"—all means of control by desperate people.

The one issue with the books I have is how quickly it all falls apart, but it took 300 years to suddenly break. Yes, there were revolts, but it takes our characters to suddenly break the … "founders"' ... world order.

The show's nonsense plots about "relics" is also something not based on the books. It felt a lot like part of the filler crap they added to pad the first season.

You're probably talking books, right?
I don't think you have insights into the TV show plot threads or have you?

This. Where's this titbit coming from? Have I missed it somehow in the show?

I went back and found it. It's like in the books exactly.

Season 2, episode 6, 38:00, then the episode 7 intro.

Watch those parts.

But you could say it would be pretty ironic if they called the voice "legacy" Wink Laughing but they didn't.

mm-Okay. I watched it, and I didn't pick up that the screen voice entity is not the same as Legacy. But inevitably the search provided me with reddit threads discussing this issue.
 Spoiler:

It's all just chinwagging of fans, some of which was coming from the books.

You really can't be sure that the show writers will respect the distinctions for those entities even if they are given in the books. Having watched the show only, I certainly didn't see, that there's necessarily a distinction between Holoscreen voice, Tunnels voice that talked to Lucas Kyle and Legacy.

Ultimately, even in the books, "Pact", "Order", "Legacy" are all just tools used to make people mindless drones that follow rules in a system they don't fully understand (by design).

 Spoiler:

Supposedly, there is going to be a big shock in episode 4, and episode 10 is titled "Troy", which is a prominent character in the second book.

In the books, there is no tablet with voice search. There are only paper books. But in the show, I don't think the tablet speaks? And the voice in the tunnel and the server room has been the same voice so far.

BTW, I don't agree that there are that many changes that break the books, at least so far. Season 3 is the biggest departure from the books, as of 3 episodes. Otherwise, yes, some changes were made, but the intent and major plot-points are very similar. I had never heard of this book series, and only "read" them (in audiobook format Laughing ) after watching the show. And was surprised how well the show held up, something that is often not the case.

I just finished the first book (on your recommendation, thank you!). I am very happy with the first season, it fleshed out the setting in a really good way, and even improved some things. Bernard (as played by underrated Tim Robbins) is better in the show - much more nuance and layers.

That is why S3 is just frustrating for me - characters of the Silo are emotional one dimensional teenagers and not adults in an interesting world.

There is additional drama in the show that doesn't exist in the books. At least in the first two books, everything is already pretty condensed, and there is very little fluff.

Keep reading. Book two is my favorite, and you'll see how hard that is to adapt. I'm still giving the show a benefit of the doubt.
