Coming from you I believe it, but everyone else knew it wouldn't happen. Sad that these dipshits (well, the ones who matter the most) are now prioritizing the tv show, and everyone else can't do better than some scraps for FO76. TES6? lolwut

I saw people expecting it to be shadow dropped which I highly doubted would happen!

Wait, they did that with the oblivion remaster shit, with a trailer on the derpbox direct, right? In that case, my bad.

huh, *someone* or some recent happening appears to have lit a fire under their ass:

Bethesda reassures fans The Elder Scrolls 6 is "on the way" following the Xbox cuts, and that it's "loving how it looks" and "playing it every day"
"We're where we planned to be."

Bethesda Game Studios has moved to calm concerns about The Elder Scrolls 6 following recent Xbox cuts, telling players that, "The next chapter is on the way. We're where we planned to be, loving how it looks, and playing it every day."

In "a note from Bethesda Game Studios" published today, the studio reiterated that TES6 "is our primary development focus today, with the majority of our team currently working on the next chapter of the franchise." The note added: "With over 65 million copies sold, players are still exploring Skyrim 15 years later, but we know it's been a very long wait for the sequel."

Reports surfaced after last week's Xbox cuts stating that "key" people from The Elder Scrolls 6 team had been laid off and that morale at the studio had plummeted. This is despite Microsoft positioning its restructuring as a way to reorganise the Xbox division around its strongest brands - The Elder Scrolls being one of them.

In the note published today, Bethesda Game Studios said Zenimax Online Studios, the developer of The Elder Scrolls Online - another studio reportedly heavily affected by Xbox layoffs - "will partner closely with Bethesda Game Studios on The Elder Scrolls franchise", in addition to working on TESO, in an effort to bring Bethesda's teams "closer together". "By aligning more directly across the franchise, we can create even better experiences for players," Bethesda Game Studios said.

The note also said how The Elder Scrolls 6 will be built on Creation Engine 3, as expected - the engine it's been building since Starfield's launch. Fallout 5 - a project announced this afternoon - will also use that engine.

Bethesda leader Todd Howard explained to Bloomberg today that the company is sharing this roadmap today - which also revealed it was collaborating with Obsidian on a new Fallout game, presumably to be a follow-up to Fallout: New Vegas - in order to help players understand what it was doing "and why".

"We do realise we need to find a way to say a bit more so that our fans understand what we're doing and why," Howard said, "while also protecting that moment when you really see the game and you press play.

"This is Bethesda's 40th anniversary, and there have been periods where we've gone through changes. We're going through a change so that we focus best on the franchises and what we need to do to deliver for everybody."

The Elder Scrolls 6 was announced eight years ago, long before Starfield had even come out - an announcement Howard has since said he wished he'd handled a little differently.

"We're where we planned to be."
Either a lie or admission that they're retarded, dunno which is worse honestly Laughing

Quote:
Starfield "remains an important part of our future" says Bethesda, as developer pledges continued support for sci-fi RPG
Star's the limit.

Bethesda has confirmed that its spacefaring sci-fi RPG Starfield will continue to be supported by the developer, even after suffering layoffs and has refocused on core franchises like The Elder Scrolls and Fallout.

This comes from a staggering blog post from Bethesda Game Studios, which addresses the future of all of its different RPG series. Starfield gets its own dedicated section, titled "Starfield Continues", Bethesda revealed the game has been played by over 17m players for nearly a billion hours. It also says outright that Starfield "remains an important part of our future."

This section also says that as part of Starfield's third year of post-launch support, the game will receive "new stories", gameplay improvements, and additional updates. There will also be more "Starborn content" coming next year, and additional support for the Starfield Creations modding system that the company says over 40 percent of players have made use of.

This post comes shortly after the studio was hit by layoffs, as part of Xbox's wider "reset" to the gaming company and the studios it owns. According to reports, Bethesda lost key staff, morale was hit hard, and even the developer's highly anticipated Elder Scrolls 6 was impacted. In response, the Bethesda developer union announced plans to protest the cuts, saying "they mean business" and that Microsoft would "think twice" before attempting similar layoffs again.

Starfield launched to a mixed reception, with Bethesda's approach to a more optimistic space exploration fantasy falling short of expectations for players and critics alike. Still, over the past few years, the game has seen considerable improvements through consistent updates. While it may not have the same lustre as the developer's other big franchises, it still has a keen audience. Its inclusion in this letter comes across as assurance that, despite the blow the company has taken, the game remains important to the studio.

At the tail end of the post, Starfield is presented right alongside Fallout and The Elder Scrolls, which certainly implies its place in Bethesda's long term plan. Time will tell if, and for how long, this will be true.

Isn't the derpstation5 version still a total shitshow?

Those rumoured Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas remasters are real, Fallout 5 is in pre-production, and Fallout 76 is getting a massive expansion
Bombs dropped.

Bethesda has published a new statement which drops some major bombs (sorry) about the future of the Fallout series. In the statement, the company noted that those long-rumoured Fallout: New Vegas and Fallout 3 remasters are indeed real, teased a mystery Fallout project being developed with Obsidian, and - last but not least - announced that Fallout 5 is now in preproduction.

The next canon game in the RPG series, Fallout 5, didn't get much information as part of this announcement, but Howard notes "Fallout 5 remains our long-range destination". Given the post notes explicitly that there will be a massive celebration for Fallout Day 2027 (typically held on 23rd October), we can probably expect movement on the game around then. Don't hold your breath, then.

As for the Fallout 3 and New Vegas remasters, well - they're finally officially real! Rumours about the games refuesed to die down for the past year or so. There are no dates for either, so how long we'll be waiting to even see them remains unclear.

We don't know much about the Obsidian game, but only last week we heard that the developer had reportedly been moved onto a new Fallout game by Xbox, at the cost of a sequel to Avowed. The studio also lost about a quarter of its staff in Xbox's latest round of layoffs, which affected 3200 staff across the publisher's studios.

Fallout 76, meanwhile, is getting a major expansion in 2027 called Raven Rock, which will act as a prequel to Fallout 3. We heard last month that the online game is finally getting native PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions with improved graphics and performance, but Bethesda is in the process of testing them first.

You can the full Bethesda message below:
Quote:
Fallout is one of our biggest priorities today. Fallout 5 remains our long-range destination, and we have multiple Fallout projects in active development right now.

Fallout 76 continues to be home to millions of players exploring Appalachia together. With nearly 70 free updates released to date, the journey is far from over. In fact, we have a major Fallout 76 expansion planned for next year: Raven Rock, a prequel story to Fallout 3.

Fallout 4, the most award-winning game in the franchise, just celebrated its 10-year anniversary and recently passed over 35 million copies sold, continuing to attract a new audience every year.

We also know many players want to revisit previous Fallout experiences. While we’re not announcing any dates today, we have been working on remasters for both Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas.

Fallout Shelter continues to be the most popular way to experience Fallout on the go, with more than 250 million players. There’s more ahead for Fallout Shelter, including new Seasons. An unscripted Fallout Shelter television project is also in the works with our partners at Amazon Studios and Kilter Films.

We'd like to congratulate Kilter Films and Amazon Studios on the 10 Emmy nominations for Fallout Season 2. Production on Season 3 is already underway.

And while we won't host a traditional Fallout Day broadcast this year, we're already planning something special for Fallout's 30th anniversary in 2027, when Fallout Day will be celebrated live in Washington, D.C.

It's interesting to note that the company has moved to announce Fallout 5: earlier this year, Todd Howard outlined his thoughts on Bethesda announcing games so far in advance, and detailed the problems that come with such a long window between announcement and release. Then again, he did reflect that he wishes he'd been more casual with the announcement of The Elder Scrolls 6 - maybe a blog post like this is his way of trying to be a temper expectations a little more.

More FO76 slop, and unfortunate confirmation that they'll be around to taint and fuckup whatever FO game obsidian is developing, terrible news Sad

Well, Fallout was ripped from Bethesda and place in the hands of Obsidian. Bethesda can't do anything about what Obsidian is now working on.

Ripping Fallout from Bethesda is the best thing possible for the franchise. It doesn't seem like Bethesda is actually focused on making games anymore.

I hope so, and also hope that obsidian put their best foot forward, no more bland Avowed mid-game or TOW "corporations le bad" komedy please.
