Hi everyone,

I've been working on a small self-hosted media app, and it's finally at a point where I'd love to get some real testing. I originally built it for my self because I wanted something simpler than Plex, Jellyfin for my own library, and it gradually turned into its own project called Strøm Cinema.
For anyone curious, most of the UI/design work was done with Gemini, while Claude helped with a lot of the coding and bug fixing Smile

Strøm Cinema is a lightweight media server you run on Windows with an Android TV app. Point it at your media, connect the TV app, and start watching. There are no accounts, no cloud services, no subscriptions, and no transcoding. Playback is direct using mpv on Windows and ExoPlayer on Android TV.

I wanted something that didn't require accounts, background services, or a bunch of setup just to watch my own files. I just wanted to point it at a folder, browse my library, and press play.

It's still early, and I'm looking for people to test it with their own libraries and tell me what breaks. I'm especially interested in Android TV remote/D-pad navigation issues, playback problems with different file formats or codecs, setup friction (if connecting to the server is confusing), and any crashes, freezes, or other rough edges.

Right now I just want to make the core experience as solid as possible.

Thanks to anyone who's willing to give it a try I really appreciate it! Smile

Thanks! Smile

I'll put together a setup tutorial on YouTube later this week, including how to get a TMDB API key, so installation becomes easier Smile Once I'm happy with the Android app, I'll publish it on the Google Play Store."
