Future proof 1080p rig and combine it with Asus XG259QWPG monitor, I'm considering the same.
On the other hand DLSS is getting better and better, might just get a large 4k display and run everything in 1080p upscaled.

Ain't no way a 5070ti is future proof for five years, sorry. Not with a new console generation looming, rumored to have a far improved RT capacity. RT so far has been a joke in gaming. Wether we like it or not, seems like this is the direction we're heading to. But given that engines are still not quite optimized, 6 years after current console generation, imagine the state that those engine's next generations will be in. I just don't see a 5070ti with 16GB or VRAM being able to hold its own for "maxed" settings, even at 1080p. Even today, ray and path turding enabled pushes VRAM to 12GB or more, depending on implementation. The computational requirement of path turding, even at 1080p, is very high, and even a 5090 struggles in some scenes, let alone a 5070ti. And that's on console games that have a tacked path turding modes with plethora of screenspace hacks to boost performance. Imagine engines built from the ground up to push many more ray turds.

future proof is a scam ... just spend as little as possible on everything except gpu and ull be golden for the next ten years ...
not a single dev is pushing boundaries right now. new pc sales have been annihilated ... 50 percent drops ... nobody is buying right now and this is the new future for next two years with scalpers and ai faggot corps not wanting anyone to know they arent using the hardware they bought or cant use it . it will be sitting in a wahrehouse cause it would burst their ai bubble
