Hell Grind (AI Movie)

Quote:
Watch the official trailer for Hell Grind — the world's first 90 minute sci-fi heist feature film produced entirely using Higgsfield AI, now screening at the Cannes Film Festival.

Watch Higgsfied Original Series: https://higgsfield.ai/...

Hell Grind follows four street thieves whose heist goes catastrophically wrong when an ancient artifact tears one of them into the underworld. What follows is a globe-spanning race through Tibetan temples and feudal Japan — part fantasy, part tragedy, all action.

Co-written with two-time Cannes Official Programme filmmaker Adilkhan Yerzhanov, the film was created from end to end using Higgsfield AI — a first in feature film history. The production team of 15 professional directors, DPs, and editors generated over 16,000 video clips to produce 253 final shots for the first episode alone, all for under $500K total — compared to the $50M+ a comparable traditional production would cost. Hell Grind is proof that AI filmmaking has crossed the threshold from short-form content into full-scale cinematic storytelling.

$500,000 budget and created in just 14 days apparently!

Well, the AI had it easy because all Asians look the same anyway Razz

Nah but seriously, if anything this just shows the lack of care that studios put into their movies nowadays. Screenplay/direction does not seem to be done by AI, but humans, so while I don't want to diminish their effort, this is basically just an easier way to CG production, and I am all for it.

Studios or really any creative medium should use AI where it can help them solve financial/complexity limitations, so they can focus on their creativity.

I saw someone compare Mandalorian and Grogu slop to AI, AI looked better.

I think the big movie studios does have the edge for resolution maybe, so that on the big screen the (image) quality will look better, but likely not for long.

I think this development is great. When some 20 year old dude in a basement can produce same type of effects, have decent AI actors etc as big movies. Well, what separates a good movie from a bad will ultimately be the writing. You will not be able to get away with "well at least the effects were cool", no one will care, we have effects at home.

A big win for everyone. Let people like James Cameron cry his fucking eyes out Laughing

Nice try. Not quite there yet, but I think it's a decent start. Eventually this new way of making media will succeed.

If nobody can be bothered to make it, why the fuck should I watch it?

If I wanted to see an AI movie, i'd prompt one myself

Well, Someone clearly spent both time and money. you can prompt a 5 second video, absolutely. Making something consistent and for 1.30h or similar, that is something different entirely.

If this is any good, i highly doubt it, but people have to start somewhere.

It works as a proof of concept. It will only get better from here.

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

I'm only curious how they do scenes longer than 10-15 seconds. AFAIK, most video models are limited to that or less, and AI goes wonky acid trip trying to get longer ones.

Plus I am disappoint Internet Sad
We have AI to make movies, and the first movie isn't just 2 hours of Big tit goth girls, or waifu, or futa porn?
I figured that would be the first thing made with it. It is the internet afterall.

True, but they are never very good. the seem is pretty invisible. But usually it's not consistent over time.
As in as camera moves around background changes, or action/scene/vibe changes. Is the same 'thing' but can tell it really had no context of what it was continuing from.
Thats what I want to see if they overcame.

If you have $500,000 to spend you can get some pretty crazy tools for AI video generation and you can do a scene again and again 100 times until it looks good. That's why these things doesn't cost $50 to do, it will add up.

What is disappointing with this is that you can directly tell its AI when it comes to e.g the monsters, i think they could have come up with something far better if they had a better art director on board, something that isn't just uncanny and generic AI slop monsters, you are totally unlimited with this tech so there are no excuses.

Nobody want's to see a movie with AI actors.

But adding AI scenes to a regular movie to save time and cost is very promising.
Problem is people are gonna cry AI slob anyway. Wouldn't be suprised to see B movies using a lot of AI for complex scenes though soon.

in comparison to CGI characters and cartoons they are still a step up, a bit depending on art direction of course...

I think we can already make them 99% unrecognizable from a real actor, there can be inconsistencies, like with any AI. I have been tricked many times on youtube by AI avatars, but eventually i will see some glitch that points it out.

Probably, but as long as they dont look like the cgi in Scorpion King and the movies are entertaining. Im fine with it.

Also, things evolve..im not suprised its heading down this path...kind of how it went from stop motion capture to cgi...i guess swapping actors (who age and wont be able to act in all the fav movies they once appeared) this is the next step.

Wink

But an AI actor will never be human, it's CGI pretending to be a human. It doesn't have character of a personality. You'll always gonna notice the difference even if it's perfect from a technical point of view.
