I tried it, its shit, the fish were woke, the snails were woke, the crabs ... woke, the blueprints, you guessed it, woke again.

Yea. I don't like how the water identifies as dry. And the doorways kept being offended I was entering them without consent.

Subnautica 2 Early Access sales top two million in 12 hours
I wonder how many of those that bought the hype are disappointed when it's done after 15 hours.
Most people are probably never gonna pick it up again when it's done.
You are full on "Pffft. Other gamers a casual gullible plebs." today aren't you?

I am 20h+ in and still didn't reach the limit of the story line for now and far from having set all my outposts in "buildable" areas.
I really like the manner they do Early access development here :
- there are passable walls with caution message "go further at your own risk"
- storyline is done until a defined limit (so no spoiler)
- areas still under development forbid you to build in them, so there are great chances your saves will survive each updates
In the other hand, performance are fine and I didn't have a single crash for now.
And ... the game is freaking cool and beautiful, I don't remember if I already said this

I'm a casual
But this game: If it's good as people say it is, you'll end up disappointed cause the game ends after a short while.
And when it's done, starting out is never as fun as the first time, the novelty factor is gone. You're like ok, what was this all about again. It's just not that special picking it up again.
Perhaps that's me, but I never get into early acces games again when they are finaly done.
You are talking from a singular perspective of what is fun for you.
Craft, survive, build, open world is my thing. I got WAY more hours in games like that should have ended when the [annoying] story was over and nothing left to 'do' (IE. story to follow)
Restarting is the best part to me. I get to think about: What can I refine, optimize, replan, and make better than I did the last time, with what I figured out.
Like satisfactory. Static map too. But I've restarted..hell close to 20 times, after 30-40 hours in, to realize I could make something slightly better/more efficient/thought of a way to squeeze out 1 or 2 more [whatever] per minute when I thought I had THE best optimization already.
And ARK, one of my most played games. Kinda same-same as this game.
I got close to 1000 hours in it [edit had to check its a little over 1000].
Spoiler:
Story be damned, its just in the way of my: Build a better base, in a better place with better planning, with more streamlined egg breeding layout than I did the last 40 times.

@DX check out Space Haven Been building and restarting for 3 days in a row now, I think I'm finally ready to start playing the game

I bought S2 EA. I've been waiting for so long for this.
Meanwhile:

Subnautica 2 has achieved extraordinary sales figures, marking one of the most successful launches in recent gaming history. The game sold 1 million copies within its first hour of Early Access release on May 14, 2026, and reached 2 million copies sold within 12 hours.
Decided to give this a go today.
I couldn’t stop playing and it was 3AM before I knew it!
Join the club dude. I forced myself through hunger and thirst to stop playing. Didn't want to spoil the final game experience by playing more. Very addictive game as expected. Will be tough to hold on till final version.
Mainly: FOV (must have), resource multiplier (2x, to balance out the finite resources), Quick Stack, Battery Indicator, Drain Rates (to reduce the stress of hunger and thirst backpedaling a bit) and many more. I also saw they even made a killable creatures one, if you prefer the SN1 way of taking out annoying fishes.
Oh and heads up, if you go to the PDAs and enter small leftover bases, click and use the biopods, it's not explained at all that this expands your inventory by 5-7 slots and hotbar +1. So dumb
Of all survival games I've played, I found this one had the least grind. Also because the progress was always very satisfying and meaningful, it didn't really feel as a grind.
It takes a little bit to get going, though, finding the parts of the sub can take a bit. Once you get the sub, the game really opens up.
