HoMM3 has enormous fanbase in the whole Eastern Europe. Or at least used to be, don't know now, but years ago a friend was going to games here in Bulgaria and doing online tournaments in some groups with Eastern EU and Russian people all through Hamachi. He said some people were living off the prize money like a full-time job, lol.

As promised, here's my take, written as I'm experiencing it:
-Starting the game
First of all, my rig isn't the most up-to-date one, but it's beyond servicable and the loading times are fucking long.
-Just started the game, random map, chose Undead, here's the town:
Spoiler: | |
Off the bat, there's a "recruit all" function. At last. The rest is pretty much like the OG, maybe less obvious.
Here's the town upgrade page. I just selected that building's requirements at random.
Spoiler: | |
Looks pretty cheap yet fully servicable.
No idea what "law" nor "Astrology" are about. Guess I'll know soon.
Spoiler: | |
That's my special gal on the map. Sure as fuck is a change from pure 2D, but it's looking pretty good as far as I'm concerned.
You can hover over everything and it'll give you info on what that thing/encounter is all about.
Good!
Spoiler: | |
Inventory, skills and artefacts for heroes
Spoiler: | |
Finding out who the enemies are through facts. You can hover on the symbols to have a clear description.
Spoiler: | |
Pretty standard. I guess I have no other choice than "Accept Result"
Spoiler: | |
Played beyond that for 30m, and so far, so good. I'll reserve my final outlook for later, but if you love(d) HoMM3 and were praying for a worthy successor, this might be it.
I'll reserve my final opinion once I'll have a few hours in.
SO FAR: 8+/10. This old cock got a reach-around.

I omitted battles for a reason, since it's it's own special thing.
I know undead = slow, so I'm pushing my dudes as far as I can from the get-go:
Spoiler: | |
First second it's possible, I cast a spell:
Spoiler: | |
Wham, bam, thank you ma'am:
Spoiler: | |
I obviously close the gap ASAP facing ranged units:
Spoiler: | |
As expected, my units drag their asses like a dog with an itchy butthole, but the job gets done:
Spoiler: | |
Going in for the final kill. Stats and such are displayed, you know what you're getting out off it:
Spoiler: | |
...and you can see the rest above
