Ever since finding out PS5 controller is (almost) natively supported on PC, I've lost any interest for this.

At the risk of going off topic, what is "almost natively"? The PS3 one was a fucking nightmare to get working back in the day. In my eyes Sony never had a good track record for anything related to PC.

It doesn’t use XInput, so games need to support it, and many moderns games do natively.

But, and I like big buts, I cannot lie, Steam has its Steam Input layer, which can translate to XInput, basically making it supported on all games (without the cute features like adaptive triggers). So it is pretty seamless for me, since almost all games for me are on Steam.

Big, bulky, cheap looking, but expensive, and it can only be used through Steam. Only real advantage over other controllers are track pads for remote use, but then again, any cheap wireless mouse with 12 buttons fares better as a remote, since it's not tied to Steam.

Well, it's not like they have another dollar-printing business that could subside this hardware or anything. Laughing

Why? Steam Input makes these controllers just work like native in all games run through Steam. No point anymore of using X360CE. And even if you want to switch some buttons around, you can use the Steam UI.

Steam? I use the TENOKE, ELAMIGOS, Fitgirl, XATAB, ETC gaming apps dood (with the rare GAYGAY and RELEODED repacks for the even older stuff Very Happy ) so that's were x360ce steps in

Eh, just add them as non-Steam games and Steam Input works normally.

I hook up my dualsense controller. Start steam. The controller flashes blue, and any game works. Even after you close steam.

If games work without launching Steam, it's because they natively support the Dual Sense. Most modern games do. For Steam Input, you must run games through Steam.

I'm not so sure about that, because what Photish said just reminded me of something that I've just tested: if I have x360ce on and then fire up steam, steam overwrites the x360ce on my DS4 (easily seen because the steam profile has a different color); however, even after turning steam off the derptroller doesn't revert to the x360ce settings, in order for that to happen I need to turn it off and then to turn it back on.
It's a DS4 and not a dual sense though

Interesting. Not sure what is going on. But most modern games do have DS5 support out of the box. I know Steam maintains a list of software that supports it natively, and goes away for those titles. But that's only for store-bought games. So I tend to disable Steam Input on … iso demos when I know the game supports it natively.

I'm fairly certain (could be wrong) Steam doesn't scan or look in games and its files launched from steam that was added as outside installs, that would be a big legal red tape fiasco if they did.
