CachyOS can be very unstable with the cavalier way they push updates and break stuff. The issue with Bazzite is how opinionated it is, and due to the nature of it being "immutable" (root mounted as read-onlly), once you do hit issues, it's hard to deal with them in a sustainable manner.

Bazzite is exactly what I needed to make the jump. It works pretty much oob. Installation was easier than Windows. Performance is very good. All my peripherals were automatically detected etc. I have yet to find something that doesn't work.

But I am sure, that down the line, I will and then I will want to try another distro. So what do you recommend? Just out of curiosity.

I agree, when it works and you are on the happy path of their decision making, it works well. But once you hit something missing or need some different version of something, it gets complex.

I don't have a recommendation. I only use Linux on a handheld device with AMD chipset, and on that, CachyOS game be slightly smoother (not really higher) performance than Bazzite, probably due to differences in scheduler that come with either. Since then, SteamOS has added enough support for my device that I just switched to that full time. But I don't use that device as a general computer, only for gaming, so I have the Gamescope game mode and almost never use the desktop mode.

I have nSlopia GPU, so not really able to even dabble with the Linux world on desktop. But given how my tolerance for instability on my main machines has severely decreased over the years (I'm old and impatient to tinker with software), I'd probably go with something as mundane as [K]Ubuntu LTS or a similar level "consumer oriented" distro with proven stability record, and perhaps recompile a kernel with modern drivers. I understand the irony in this, but it would still result in more stable overall experience.

I wouldn't consider either Bazzite or CachyOS as "stable" distros by a long shot. Just over the last few months, CachyOS switched display server in a random patch and Bazzite core developers had a world war with one of Bazzite's most important component developers (Handheld Daemon). If all you do is gaming and use the default software, it's probably fine, but that's not how I use my computers and what I expect from them.

Thanks for your opinion. I'm sure that sooner or later I will run into issues, once the initial euphoria of the "new" wears down. But I also have my MBA via KVM to use for all my productivity needs if something should not work on my PC.
