So, it has too much going on..so much that makes it impossible to objectively review? Got it.
Yeah it's a load of stuff, one review mentioned base building, which I have not heard from in 2-3 videos, it's not a good sign if it's bloated to the point you can't properly assess it.
I have enjoyed this guys reviews. He found it “overwhelming” with what you can do but since the game is just “fun to play”, he was good with that. This is more or less what my expectations were/are after listening to other reviews.

Crimson Desert will no doubt overwhelm some. The sheer size and the absurd time commitment to make a dent in the map may be more than some players want. But if the question was if Crimson Desert could really be that big and really play that well and really keep you entertained the whole time, the answer, for me, is unequivocally yes.
Interesting, utubers hyped this hard while gamejournos not so much.
With Marathon it will likely be the opposite, since utubers are not impressed while gamejournos obeyed the "embargo"

It was all either paid or promise-of-access shilling. It was all "Is this too good to be true???////slash" and "After 6 hours of this game, z0MgZ0rz this amazomg thing happened!!111oneone". They all used the same phrases, the same terms and released around the same time. It was probably demanded by the asian developer who might not be up there culturally to understand how transparent these videos were.
The game does not respect your time at all it seems with a lot of grinding, long travelling times with few fast travel points.
The later is really good, i hate how modern open world games deals with this. Travel should be a gameplay element. Having fast travel points everywhere or directly from the map, to remove the gameplay element is retarded. If it has to be like that, then either don't do open world games because its likely not designed properly or just don't try to appeal to people who actually just want a smaller world or a linear world with no travel.
Travel has to be earned in some way. Ultima Underworld did this in a fantastic way where getting the portal runes meant something, Gothic does this in a good way too, having to find the runes, then it's fun and feels like progress + very rewarding to get the item.
It also seems like the initial impression of 'it's huge, good graphics, lots of things to do, character switch' has quickly worn off when they realised that the story is severely lacking and that bugs and performance aren't up to par.
Still, could become decent given more time to get it where it should be.
yeah this sounds like what would happen if you turn your MMO into a SP game mid-development
Isn't that kinda what happened with Kingdoms of Amular? That was fun to play, but a bit tedious after 20 hrs or so. And then I felt like I still had so much more left to do but got bored.
