The more I play the more I like it. Boss battles are more interesting later on and yeah, it's kind of hard not to ignore its issues, when the important stuff is solid. Also helps that the game isn't pay to win, I mean not really. You have a battlepass, but you can just count that as a subscription.

There is a story you can follow sure, and there are other smaller stories as well. The story mode isn't fully released yet, as they seem to be releasing it in stages but you can complete the first region's story and go about half-way in to the next or however much it's at.

There's a good game underneath the f2p chinese mobile trash tacked on. And if you like Wuxia it's pretty much the best english thing.
If you can't stand the awful menus and the sensory overload of collecting bs and all that, then you won't like it.
It's like you have a ubislop overworld map to explore with some solid boss fights and a lot of chinese f2p slop lathered all over it. No p2w though. You can get a tiny advantage from the battlepass, but you can just see that as a subscription.
They are releasing content in waves, including level gating, so there's no hurry to get in to it if you don't care for Wuxia and want to see how it goes. But yeah, it's alright overall.
Oh yeah, localization can be iffy I suppose, but for me, I barely notice it, since I've read way too many poorly translated wuxia novels.
You can do most of the content single player, with mostly casual stuff being online only.
You can even do the group and raids alone with bots, which so far it's been the better options since bots always do the mechanics correctly and don't just waste your time. Granted, you are encouraged to play them with actual people since you get I think around 50% more rewards... can't remember exactly, but I'm fairly sure it's less then double at least.
You can disable most interface stuff, including the darksouls like player markers if you want.
There's quite a few puzzles, some better than others, some that pretty much needed the player markers or trial and error since the translation was bad, or in one case the blocks you needed to move just had chinese characters, so ... yeah.
But there are some fairly solid ones as well.
The story is whatever... The first region was a fairly typical Wuxia starter, nothing special but not terrible either. The second kind of lost me since it deals with a lot of struggle and poverty and tries to portray the player as naive and poor, despite at that point you being rich as fuck and really experienced. I don't know... it's just too disconnected from the game.
