I was thinking about the 5070ti, but more and more I can't justify paying 750-790 yuros (and that is with some heavy black friday discounts on top) for one

5070ti is 250 euro less. that's true.
And it's only like 15% slower (maybe 20 in WORST cases).

But I have 3080. I ain't downgrading to a 70 card Laughing Crying or Very sad
And I wanted a founders card.
Better recommends some games to check out the new card. I've been maining ps5 for a few years now...

Think of it this way: What glorious AAA games await you for that price?
You could get a 5090 and still experience stutters due to incompetent/rushed devs Laughing
You could tone a single setting or two to high or medium without noticing any difference (games these days all look generic and samey even on ultra) or shell out 800€ then have to pixel peep to notice any difference.

Truth of the matter is we've been getting nothing but daylight robbery for miniscule gains since the RTX 3000 cards.

tl;dr : unless you're gonna get a 5090 and make that money back by selling custom AI videos of dancing AI (All indians) to boomers you're getting a very raw deal.
who knows, maybe if the AI bubble bursts and china figures out how to run it far more efficiently, the RTX 6000 cards wont sting so much. Either way you won't be missing out on much by biding your time.

If I can get a 9070XT for, say, 600yuros I'll be happy.
As for performance issues, not even china will figure out shit while the lethal combo of UE5 + inexperienced junior devs working with it is still around.

Playing 2025 PC games Laughing
FSR or DLSS will be close enough to each other for what my eyes can see nowadays, and RT is overrated as fuck; used it in cyberpunk for a few hours before the performance issues started to pop up, turned it off, never looked back. First thing I do in each game that has it is turning it off to.
Jewvidia are just too greedy nowadays, there is no reason 5070 shouldn't have 16GB VRAM, period. The gimped 12GB 5070 is just a joke, as is having the 5070 ti at an outrageous 200/250yuro bump and with ONLY 16GB VRAM.
And the 5080 well... can't quite find words to describe that thing having only 16GB. Isn't it around the price of a 3090 back in 2020, and just shy of a 4090? HOW??

16gb on 5080 makes about as little sense as 10gb on a 3080 but it is what it is.

ehhhh disagree.
10GB on the 3080 at the time made some sense since you had the 3070 with only 8GB, but 16GB on the 5080 nowadays doesn't; it should at least have 20GB.

1080 had 8gb and ti had 11.
10gb on 3080 was a robbery

Alan Wake 2 requires graphic cards with mesh shaders.

Minimum - RX 6600 or RTX 2060.

It was probably patched but 5700xt is not good enough anymore.

5700xt is joining polaris soon when it comes to driver support. Not that I care much since I'm still rocking an rx 580 8GB on one of my computers and it still works perfectly fine for the adequate tasks I give it. (browsing, indie games, retro/emulation)

I just don't see the current PC gaming landscape as worth the investment anymore since I can either tick a few options off and play just fine on a 3060 at 1080p or get robbed by Ngreedia for not that much of an upgrade. It's just video games, and the backlog of actual good games you can play on a toaster is unending.

I may upgrade in 2027-2030 if I'm still around. Tech has just plateau'd too much hence all the gimmicks and AI bullshit to justify a next purchase. But they'll have to do a whole lot better than that to get my hard earned money.

i think they will inflate prices on purpose to keep the ai bubble going as long as possible. if old cards go up in value they can justify their fraudulant 6 year write off ponzi schemes

SIX years .. for a gpu

AMD already wanted to cut support for some after just two years these cockroaches Laughing

What's the difference between:

MSI Geforce RTX 5060Ti Ventus 8GB and MSI Geforce RTX 5060Ti Ventus 16GB??

174 Euro. How can they want an extra 174 Euros for the extra 8GB VRAM? Yeah, I know, because they can. If they added 50 Euros I'd go along with it but 174!? No way.

Checked prices on different GPU's and I was just a little stunned when I saw this:

MSI GeForce RTX 5060Ti 8GB VENTUS 2X OC PLUS: 344 Euros
MSI GeForce RTX 5060Ti 16GB VENTUS 3X OC: 518 Euros

3X fan vs 2X fan isn't costing MSI any noticeable amount to use. It's the exact same GPU with the exact same speed, exact same kind of VRAM chips (8 GB and 16 GB) at the same settings etc..

The average price for 8 GB GDDR7 VRAM is ~$25 and obviously $50 for 16 GB. They're not charging for the actual cost, they charge for the increased performance that you can get from games that want to use more than 8 GB VRAM.

The difference between the 8 GB and 16 GB are night and day when games use more than 8 GB VRAM:

I've already seen a few 9070XT for 589€ and 599€, debating which to buy or if I should wait until the end of the week. So 518€ for a 5060Ti is just bonkers Laughing

Just get the cheapest, except the Gigabyte ones, if you don’t plant OC, which, honestly, is not worth much.

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

Yeah, I'm thinking of moving to team red both for GPU and a new board/cpu/ram. I'll focus on the GPU for now though since my 3070 and especially the 8GB GDDR6 VRAM is the main limiting factor. Perhaps the insane RAM pricing sham has faded when I replace my core system at some point in time.

That's cheap for the 9070XT. Here (Sweden) the cheapest I can find is the ASUS Radeon RX 9070 XT 16GB Prime OC priced at ~€700.
