Frankenstein (Guillermo Del Toro) [Netflix, November]

Quote:
Written and directed by Guillermo del Toro, FRANKENSTEIN is on Netflix this November. Starring Oscar Isaac, Jacob Elordi, Mia Goth, Felix Kammerer, with Charles Dance, and Christoph Waltz.

Oscar-winning director Guillermo del Toro adapts Mary Shelley’s classic tale of Victor Frankenstein, a brilliant but egotistical scientist who brings a creature to life in a monstrous experiment that ultimately leads to the undoing of both the creator and his tragic creation.

This is just a small part, there is a 40min documentary about this.
Sets were great but the fire, explosions and many animals were vfx and looked really bad. It's even more jarring when everything else looks good.
Some 20 year old movies had better vfx than this.

I don't know if the story is just overdone or I'm an old prick but I didn't find it compelling. It wasn't even that interesting visually. The whole story reminded me mostly of Penny Dreadful where the dynamic between Frankenstein and the monster were very, very similar. Over all I find it competent but absolutely unnecessary movie.
