The fact that they released Gothic1 on Nintendo Switch surprises me, would love to hear how they pitched that one to the publisher.

I've played this new demo they've released recently and I like the esthetic minimalistic UI character models and general vibe but there is too much reflections and glossiness.

Gameplay wise, it has some jank (which didn't bother me), controls are strange for an action RPG game, but overall, I like it so far. There is no autosave, which I've learned the hard way. There are some bugs with item management (I had to re-load the game as my character wouldn't pick up items couple times).
Also I'm almost certain you could have lure monsters one by one if approached the correct distance but here it seems to agro all of the mobs at once in specific area. There is no difficulty slider and it feels difficult for my abilities so I hope they will add it in the final version.
For now it is for sure a day one purchase for me, most likely PS5 version as my PC wouldn't handle it.

It feels way better than this demo from 2019 and I'm happy they took their time with it.

I'm just afraid it won't be attractive to modern/younger gamers, but we will see.

Lol, yesterday was talking with friends that it hopefully finally releases next year.

EDIT: Was thinking it's fresh official news, but that video is just a guy playing the demo. Confused

Yup.. I bet the publisher (and the dev too) want this to be the new TES... i hope they succeed.

It's still the same Gothic 1, more or less. And it was never on the level of TES games, even if I don't like them. Sad
If it's changed too much from the original, that would probably piss off most of the old and loyal fans.

TES always had better reach, american game vs german game. I think many people who enjoys TES has missed out on Gothic just because they didnt know about the game.

Over the years i've talked to a lot of americans who loves TES and i'd say very few even knew about Gothic, it's had a bit of a revival in later years because word of mouth and streamers, reddit etc. TES has never needed that because everyone has known about those games, every magazine and gaming site reviewed them. It was not the same for Gothic.

Today it would have been a bit different, it will have far greater reach due to Steam and people overall know about Gothic now.

yeah more and more for each game, though it wasnt a thing really before MW.
The bad part about the remake is indeed the choice of engine...
