The only Need for Speed titles that I bothered playing this decade were Slightly Mad's ones, only because I was sure to find some physics in them. 
Modern #yolo cringe aside, I just cannot enjoy driving games (in general) that don't offer at least a pseudo-believable handling with basic friction, damage system, sense of inertia and so on. The Forza Horizon series is already pushing it a bit too far for me, reason why I always end up playing and replaying the same ol' Assetto Corsa, PCARS2, the Dirt Rallys, MotoGP, Automobilista and so on. The F1 series became genuinely entertaining only in 2018, which was the year that Coderpmasters finally added tyre and suspension physics.
As far as arcade games go and despite the gimping, Wreckfest isn't a bad option, since it combines the craze of anarchic circuit racing with reasonably simulated handling and deformations. GRIP is an alright entry as well, very fast-paced but requires actual skills to master it. Hell, even GTA V with the Realistic Driving mod is a surprisingly decent addition at this point.
