You can unlock 2 alternate characters/personas for each class (and faction) through assignments, which (except for NATO support, all 3 female ) always include at least 1 person of the opposite gender.
You can check that in Loadouts->Appearance and then select one of the classes to see the unlockable alternate personas.
Looks like from the 4 default personas, 2 are male and 2 are female.
Is it worth a shit for a quick twitch run and gun at least?
I am more an ARMA 3 guy so I can't tell/judge if it is. Friend I play games with doesn't like arma he likes: Drop in, don't think much, pew pew people.
And we are getting bored of Quake Arena. (the only one we agree on we both like of that style).
He was thinking of getting it for me so we can spend a day or two pure gaming before I wander off to be gone a while. Don't want him to waste money on a game we find boring.
A bit of a vague "Is it good" question that's hard to answer. But we both can't stand PUBG, Counter Strike, CoD, Titanfall, any Halo MP. Or games like Medal of Honor (was too complex for him somehow, too simple for me).

@DX: It probably is - i am also an ARMA kind of guy and this is way too hectic for me to enjoy solo, however with friends it is ok. Guns feel nice, TTK is small, gameplay is very fast. Performance is ok.
My only complaint is the maps - feels like they had a team come up with interesting map locales, and then gave it to a bunch of streamers to map design. Distance between points is small, fighting is happening from all directions. Points change ownership faster than i can grasp in the middle of gameplay - maybe i just gotta git good, but i doubt i will.
Some maps have vehicles in them but they don't make sense to me - i just spend all of the time down a narrow alleyway or what feels like flatout, by driving inside buildings
Escalation mode is pretty nice. Also largest map mode i played. It is conquest with the twist that points can get perma-captured. First team to 3 perma-points wins. Feels dynamic as you may end up with any combination of the 3-4 points out of the original 7 and you actually have to cover some distance / have time to figure out where the enemy is coming from. So basically feels more reminiscent of old games

I can't find how to change support to drop sammiches

I'm afraid I don't know how to respond to that
lol the sammiches are important as hell! Especially the ham/cheese ones!
shitloads of new stuff in my pc. Cant keep track of it all.
so where are the big maps that were gonna be in the full release?
the only big map is the old one from bf3
Mirak Valley and Operation Firestorm are both the biggest maps (Mirak is even bigger than Firestorm). Another (kinda) big map is coming before the end of the month (Blackwell Fields aka "Badlands").
I don't think we will be seeing huge maps a la BF1942/BF2/BF2142 or Bandar Desert from BF3 anymore (or anytime soon), those times are gone, especially after the 2042 map fiasco with huge maps that looked and played like a big empty parking lot
when people ask big maps i dont think anyone is thinking of those older games or 2042. they just want bf3/4/1/5 level of "big" maps, aka normal size bf maps. every map in bf6 is smaller because thats how u get to have non stop action like cod, there is no downtime after respawn.
remember when modern warfare reboot launched with ground war mode aka bf mode? big cod map but smaller than bf, had vehicles but clearly played like a cod game even though it looks like bf. thats how bf6 feels. a better cod ground war mode
BF2042 had far bigger problems than the large size of the maps.
Correct, most of which have been solved in this new entry.
BTW, I love how the COD kiddies are complaining in other forums about the weapons not being as beamy as in the beta, as DICE gave them proper recoil and bullet spread and now you have to use burst fire to kill from a distance, as it should be in a BF game.
