I played around 3 hours and ‘we’re back!’ in my opinion.
So good to have a new Dying Light game.
Great intro and I love how visceral the super gory and crunchy combat is!
Considering it started as DLC, I think Techland cooked, it’s not quite Dying Light 3 but more like Dying Light 2.5 lol.
The rainy weather and driving straight from Dying Light: The Following is great!
Losing XP upon death is an interesting mechanic and I find it quite challenging on normal difficulty but no doubt it will get easier with upgrades and modified weapons from blueprints!
Having a blast so far
Dying Light is a 2015 game, does this feel like a game with 10+ years of improvements? Graphics have diminishing returns, but where are all the new gameplay mechanics and interesting things to do?
Fantastic bug in the configure keys area. You can't change any keys as they don't save. You can do a few but suddenly they all revert back to default. There's a few with the same issue on the Steam forums. I refunded it and grabbed the Yar version until it comes out on special offer at some point.

The bar is so low these days
Runs well though
yeah, didnt liked dl2 so i was hyped for this but its the same game since the following dlc from 10 years ago, better graphics from dl2 but nothing really changed, even some encounters are exactly from the following dlc as i remember, and still janky
i like the dense map and the gore but after a few hours i already feel that ive played this before
I agree with the general sentiment, this new entry is more derivative than it should be and ultimately does little to hide its low-effort nature. The tone is the correct one, however, it's difficult to look past all the reused mechanics, Ubi-esque quirks that were carried over or the usual D-tier writing, especially since the Beast itself feels rather flabby as well. It looked more compelling from the trailers
But then again, we're living in an era where safe formulae/remakes flourish and where everything from technology to actual ideas is visibly stagnating.
Both Dying Light 2 and Dying Light: The Beast are flagged as ‘PS5 Pro Enhanced’ on PSN but I don’t think they are. I couldn’t find anything in the settings so that’s a bit misleading or maybe it will be implemented in a future update perhaps.
Anyway I decided to start a new playthrough of Dying Light 2 and found myself playing it for several hours. I forgot how much I liked that game and how improved it has been since launch but my god does it show how much better the visuals are in Dying Light: The Beast are! Both games are still great in their own right but they both use Techland’s proprietary C-Engine.
Having said that Dying Light 2 was technically last generation since it was on PS4 and which is probably why it looks so inferior

they changed stuff in dl2 to make it more like 1 but couldnt change everything, i guess they gave people wat they wanted in the end, the first game again but with not much effort. some people expected more....others...based on steam got everything they wanted

They are PS5 Pro enhanced which is why like MGS Delta and Silent Hill f you don't get to choose between performance mode and quality mode. There is only 1 mode on PS5 pro unlike regular PS5.
