With his straw hat and ragtag crew, young pirate Monkey D. Luffy goes on an epic voyage for treasure in this live-action adaptation of the popular manga.

1 and 2 are still amazing.

Despite the money and apparent attention they put into it working closely with Oda... nah.
It just fails to feel right for me.

Yeah, looks fan-made in many parts. At least it's faithful to the manga unlike that horrid Cowboy Bebop adaptation Laughing

Genuine question: Have any of those anime to live-action stuffs been anything but crappy cringeworthy embarassements?

It's... actually watchable even with the questionable effects/scenes Laughing . Corny and silly but it's an earnest effort which feels like it has been made for people who like the source material. Complete opposite of that 'Cowboy Bebop' live action which had nothing but contempt for the fans and was full of smugness.

I gave it a shot, i liked the first episode.

I tried latest season of Mandalorian and only 10 mins felt like 30 minutes, i had to turn it off. Here 1h went by really fast which i guess says something. It's just stupid fun, decent characters that hasn't annoyed me yet. Hardly perfect but.. i know nothing about the anime or manga, i think i've seen like 2 episodes ages ago.

I am a fan of the anime and enjoyed the Netflix show as it was kind of like a nostalgia trip since it has been so long since I watched the first season of the anime. They changed a few things but overall it was pretty much the same story. After watching all 8 episodes of season 1, I was curious to see where that would line up in the anime and it was at episode 45.

Hopefully it does get a second season since a lot of the first season was recruiting the core crew and it will be interesting to see if they actually make it to the point during season 2 where they recruit Tony Tony Chopper as I wonder if they would make him a full CGI character or try something different.

I enjoyed the show. Was fun and entertaining. Very Happy Hopefully season 2 is coming. The anime is too big (1000+ chapters).

The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.

2 episodes left. It's good old Swashbuckling mixed with harry potter (same "style"/feel). They really hit home with the Clown guy, he's awesome. The others aren't too bad either, main guy is likable.

Pretty good show. (From someone who haven't read or watch the source material)
It reminded me of Pippi Longstocking, if your old enough to remember

yeah (since Swede), it's like a theme from Pippi's imagination. Super powers exists, time lines doesn't really exist etc. It similarly also takes up lies and overexaggeration.

Very odd universe to say the least (typical "tasteless" Japanese - anything goes-style) but i did enjoy S1 a lot, can't wait for S2 Smile

Everyone praised the shit out of it, I couldn't finish season 1.
Not for me. Too orientally infantile.

Seems like a case of that "Average chick with unnatural hair color and messy style, adds +3 to her score" situation to me. A bit of a Leeloo effect.

For the show, never seen one piece in any large amount. But my son and daughter says its good and they loved the anime one. The little I saw of it, it seems to try to convey the vibe of anime. But it's lacking the core part that 'sells' the anime humor: The way anime can over exaggerate facial expressions and movements to sell/highlight 'this is the funny part'.
The same way live action Lupin the 3rd just doesn't translate well. 1/2 of its 'goofiness' was the animations not so much the dialog and scene itself.
