He is 100% right though. Somehow PC gamers expect to max out the game and demand silky smooth 100+ FPS playing new games at max settings in 4k. With older hardware. Say pre 2020 your system was considered "old" after 2-3 years and people blamed their system, not the game.
People even upgraded for a new game.
Problem is though we are facing absurd inflated hardware prices. For years you could buy a high end rig for 1000 euro's with premium parts. Then it went to 1500 euro's (spend that in 2019, only saving a bit on the GPU with a 2070 super). Now it's 2500 euro's for a high end GPU. So upgrading is not that obvious and mid-range GPU's aren't spectacular, they deliver 3-5 year old performance. So most people can't afford a real upgrade. And even if you do, it's not that spectacular what you get on screen for your 3000+ euro's.
Im pretty sure by now UE5 just craps all over itself at 4K since most UE5 games ive tried on 1440p ran okay. Never perfect but not nearly as bad as other reports led me to believe.
4k is one of the biggest boondoggles a gamer can get himself into. Just not worth it over 1440p unless you’re one of those special people who sit like 2 feet away from a 42” tv and pretend it’s a good experience
3440x1440 OLED ultrawide is perfect for gaming, fantastic aspect ratio and resolution is sharp enough. Had to test out 42" 4K LG OLED as PC screen for some time, it was horrible size in desk usage and the 16:9 aspect ratio feels so bad after ultrawide.
at the rate devs are so hostile to their customers one has to wonder if they even care at all about their money. Is it all a stolen CC money laundering scheme? Are the paychecks from nvidia comfy enough for the next decade or two? Are there enough retards out there that are happy to play at 30fps at 1080p with the cards the majority have?
For me Borderlands runs like any other current game at 1440p mid-high settings, tbh it's a bit better then avarage.

True, he has a 2080. So it's not even the case that this game needs a more modern GPU with better raytracing capabilities.

One thing these modern game devs don't understand is that Borderlands 3 plays and even LOOKS better at 4k and 144fps than Borderlands 4 at sub 60 fps and whatever upscaling tech they have to force it to play on 4k monitors. Gaming at high fps and 4k monitor is just crisp and fast, while upscaling and raytracing is just useless fluff that ruins all the smoothness.

Not defending this shit, but the game is crisp and super smooth even with all AI black magic enabled on my oled at pretty much locked "175fps", looks also miles ahead than BL3, especially lightning wise.

Same as a new rig will not give you the wow factor you had in the past. And when you paid more money then ever for a new system, people are gonna be disappointed with a game like this.

They're just cramming nanites everywhere at random until it's barely running 50fps on dlss, then the optimisation crew needs to lower the details so it gets close to 60fps, and job done. It's nonsense that high end gpus are so expensive, it's much higher nonsense that high end Gpus are drawing so much power, but the devs should then lower the high end nominator and develop for more power efficient end.

Nvidia/amd are pushing for this tech to sell hardware. Almost every aaa game is sponsored by them.
With prices higher then ever but without any worthwile innovation, this bubble is gonna burst. Wouldn’t be surprised if we all use low power mini pc’s in a decade for gaming. High end just isn’t worth it.
maybe but not perfect as everyday monitor, many games dont even have proper uw support, also not good for watching 16:9 movies which including tvshows are many
