My only point was I think the Switch 2 will be a hit. Not because it's brilliant,it's still outdated hardware, but okish for a handheld, but because it reaches the treshold were the (lack of) power of the console is not the limiting factor to create a game with good gameplay. The difference between 720P 15-30 FPS and 1440P 60FPS is immense for the enjoyment of a game.
I'm more curious if next gen console is gonna make people reach for their wallets, that's something a lot of people are not gonna be bothered with. It's gonna be more of a premium thing. Could be wrong, but hardware has reached a point where games just look fine even on lower end systems. Doubt the PS6 is of any use (in the short term) if you are not bothered with 4k for instance.
I have two of them actually. 1 sealed in in case there is an exploit and I need a lower firmware and one for legit games. Sorry if it's shocking you.
Interesting, and obviously lots of people did that with, for example, the PS5. However with some of the moves the platform manufacturers have done recently I'm not sure if this approach will pay off in the long run - PS5 Pro for example is sold without a disc drive, some exploits require a disc drive to run, but that disc drive has to be activated online before it can be paired, which brings you up to current OFW which might not be exploitable.
Could the same apply to Switch 2? Requires day 1 patch to work, so might it make more sense to unbox and get it at least on day 1 firmware before stashing it away hoping for future exploits? Or an it be updated to any particular FW via USB C?
You can update to whatever firmware there is on flashcarts anyway even offline. AFAIK no carts has the day 1 update yet though but probably will happen with DK Bananaza (Mario Kart has 19.1.0 and day 1 is 20.x).
Keep in mind that usually when there is an exploit for a newer firmware, then it means the exploit is still here on a lower firmware so shouldn't matter. You are right with the PS5 Pro and disc drive and that the NSW2 needs 20.0 to boot up NSW1 games, but I would be really unlucky if a hack only works on 20.0.0 and there is no cart shipping with 20.0.0 (or that it was fixed in 20.1.0).
I still think one would take much more risk updating to 20.x currently rather than staying on 19.0.1 (shipping firmware) having an opportunity to already update to 19.1.0 (and more via carts). Current NSW exploits allows you to update manually to any firmware although this exploit is unique in that there is a bootrom exploit and the system is wide open so obviously updating to whatever firmware is piss easy. For 3DS you had to use specific carts to get a specific firmware back then to use gateway3DS initially.
What I think you are right though and that it would be mostly useless is that in the latest years it wasn't that complicated to get a proper firmware to use a hack. I remember needing a 4.5.0 3DS for gateway, and it was easy to find. Same goes with PS3 3.43 for the jailbreak, and even PS4 5.50 (1.76 was complicated though). PS5 too as long as you don't need a disc drive, it's not that complicated these days to find a 5.50 PS5.
Mind you that PS5 Slim + drive don't need online and the drive is paired but I don't think PS5 Pro shipps iwth a drive.
Thing is, I don't think I'm taking much risk either way : I know it's shocking to say that here, but I'm pretty positive the NSW2 price won't drop any time soon so EVEN if i need a newer firmware which I can get buy buying a new console, the price won't be much different than what I already paid, if not worse.
What scares me more is to have a useless console in my closet if there is never any exploit or if it's limited to early firmwares : honestly PS5 exploits are meh and I'm barely using it. I'm buying my games and playing them on my legit PS5 pro.
u know what this means right ... nvidia has the tech to pump out cheap passive coooled 10nm graphics cards for 100 bucks a pop but they wont do it cause fuck budget gamers
then again amd igpu has probably already catched up
Been playing it, it's amazing! Except the framerate drops here and there specially when a lot happens, it's quite noticeable at least in Docked mode.
Didn't try handheld but DF seems to be saying it plays better thanks to VRR (or maybe thanks to the downgraded game in handheld i would guess).
Some sloppy textures too in some sequences but the gameplay is top notch.
Still the resolution is fine and it doesnt have the muddy look you have in NSW1 games although it's definitely not native 4K.
It's basically a Mario Odyssey clone but with DK and Pauline instead of Mario and Cappy, so if you loved it, you'll love this one too for sure. It also has some kind of Ratchet & Clank with the more cinematic and cartoonish feeling.
DK bananza is a lot of fun, still it's the type of game that's hard to play for more then an hour for me though, but a perfect game to play when you are tired.
Switch 2 is becomming something great. After decades Nintendo is finaly not limited by it's graphics. It's not high end off course, but good enough that you won't be bothered by the quality like the former switch. It the devs can control themselves and just make sure the games will run at 60 FPS and not push the system, there is a lot of great stuff comming.
2 downsides: the insane prices of their games that will never go on sale and that stupid plastic foil they put on the screen that scratches even when you look at it. Have to find the courage to tear mine of some day in the future.
Nobody should have expected anything different. The PS4 version already ran badly, S2 is weaker than that. And Fromsoft don't optimize their games like at all.

That’s true but they shouldn’t be demoing the game at Gamescom if it has issues, that’s not going to do them any favours! Apparently they weren’t allowed to record any of the game lol.
