Yamal was about the only one who gave it all but alas, his (immense) talent wasn't enough. Sommer playing the game of his life was the deciding factor more than anything else, though madman Acerbi of all people scoring his first European goal and Barca's defensive line being more invisible than the usual were close contenders as well. Granted, they couldn't rely on Koundè and Balde but still, they should have applied logic for once with the art of expertly parking the bus a bit after scoring the third goal. 
This season has been a nightmare so far, my only hope at this point is for the final to have a similar outcome as the 2023 one

Yep, after years and years and years of terrible management, a dozen amateurish managers, some insane presidents (Ferrero above all, his cocaine-fueled outbursts are legendary  ) there was only one possible outcome, really. Samp are in good company though, there are plenty of once respectable clubs that have miserably fallen from grace, it's almost like a tradition in Italy.

I remember playing FIFA 95 on Sega MegaDrive and picking teams like Foggia etc.

They were popular indeed, especially during the crazy Zemanlandia days. The club went bankrupt several times and was renamed Calcio Foggia 1920, pretty much the standard trajectory in these cases.
I used to watch Siena back in the 2000s, went to the stadium several times as well (including all the matches with Juve, that goes without saying) and met Conte when he was still bald
Alas, they also went bankrupt multiple times and even ended up playing in the fifth division at some point. |

Yup, it's curious (but not really) that there has been nearly zero media coverage about this known and objectively hefty scandal besides a recent investigative TV program in Italy -- it's as if such things only matter when a certain team wearing black & white stripes is involved, while for other clubs the FIGC and their related sporting courts apply the good ol' sweeping-under-the-rug ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ rule.

I think that everyone agrees with the 'sweeping-under-the-rug' solution since if they start digging enough almost every second top team will be in trouble. We all know that.

Haha yeah, I've been impressed with City's new players and the youngsters are looking very promising as well.
The difference in terms of quality between the two teams at the moment sadly is quite staggering, but then again, it's a miracle that we're even doing the CWC in the first place* considering the results/shenanigans of the past five years. That's Piemonte Calcio, not Juve. And now there's the match against Real Madrid
