Yeah your right there hasn't been an awful lot Xbox wise this month, I kept myself amused with Guitar Hero. Bought it on release day and played through the normal and hard skill levels to completion then dabbled in expert mode. Couldn't get enough of the game, soooo addictive although having played it so much I now need new tunes to rock out to. Razz

IGN lists these games as being due, I added May as well because theres sod all listed for April and one of the games has already been released (outrun). Longest Journey:-Dreamfall would be on there too but I believe the game was released today so it isn't listed on IGN I'd imagine it'll get released some time this week - My picks will be Dreamfall, Hitman and Stacked (if the game ever gets released Rolling Eyes ). Painkiller will also be fun for those that didn't play the PC game, I tryed the alpha release last month and its not bad.

I take it Bad Day LA and Bully have slipped, didn't bother to check and obviously Starcraft Ghost is indefinetly on hold with alot of rumours of it being canned on current gen.

i've never read 2000ad mag, but its some blue bloke with a helmet on!

Has anyone else noticed that from theat list, most of the publishers are the ones no-one really cares about? Have 95% of the decent publisher now deserted xbox for the 360?

Koei are poo, the activision one 'Hustle' is on their "value" label, which means pants, and majesco are usually rubbish too, although the Jaws game dues look a bit fun.

There's not much there to get excited about is there Sad

Yes it is the character from 2000AD, hopefully they do a better job of this 2000AD character than developers did in the past with Judge Dredd - also when the fuck is someone going to take a look at the classic story/character Chopper: Song of the Surfer and do a decent game of that, it has infinetly more quality material and potential for a good game than the half arsed cliched characters and storys that adorn the majority of games nowadays.

Anyway my long past childhood and comics aside totally see your point about the games that I listed, I put it down to just a dry couple of months after a spell which saw Black, Ghost Recon AW, Fight Night 3, Mark Ecko etc. Half a dozen games also had there release dates pushed into late 2nd and 3rd quarters stuff like Bully and Starcraft Ghost as I previously mentioned - if they were coming out I don't think the coming months would look half as bad.

edit.... Hummer Badlands seems to have been released btw, multi disc fodder if ever I saw it. Couldn't find any screens which suggests to me that the game is pap and the filesize is tiny but the game description sounds amusing at least (in a childish kind of way), "and thats just before lunch". Razz

You're in the Badlands now. It's more than just 4 tons of raw HUMMER power rumbling across the earth. It's the ultimate mud-sliding, log climbing, rock crossing Hummer battle ... And that's just before lunch!

Features:

* 20 torque twisting HUMMERS.
* Split-screen multiplayer for head-to-head action.

Additionally, players can participate in a host of extreme challenges to establish HUMMER dominance. HUMMER Badlands allows players to make authentic customizations for the most realistic HUMMER experience available.

King of the Fighters Neowave is also out btw looks like another multidisc title not especially impressive if you've played Garou or any of the previous KOF titles. Smile

Rogue Trooper was meant to be pretty good from what i'd heard! Eidos have a decent track record! EDIT: Just seen a few vids on IGN for this, and it looks right up my street!

the Hummer game actually looks ok from the shots i've seen at: http://www.globalstarsoftware.com/hummer

Classfied Sentinal Crisis looks like a reasonable 1st person shooter:
http://www.globalstarsoftware.com/games/classified/screens/xbox/large/02.jpg

and Army Men looks a lot better than the pish they've churned out before, 3rd person no less!
http://www.globalstarsoftware.com/games/armymenmajormalfunction/screens/xbox/large/02.jpg

The last 3 of these are publisher by Globalstar software, makers of Serious Sam and the Outlaw sports games so i don't hold high hopes for them though!!

Dreamfall is rated highly by ign for its story, but apparently you don't have much to do other than sit back and watch the show, 4/10 playability and 3.5 out of ten for lasting appeal!!

I liked how in the IGN PC review the reviewer used the age old developed on console and as a result somewhat lacking technically on a PC. This is the site that when they hire reviewers and editors ask that they have a general appreciation of games across all platforms i.e. no fucking fanboys - If a games crap or merely average its crap regardless of whether it was developed on a console or not using that as an excuse to mask the fact that the game didn't live upto any generated hype or the quality of the first game is a poor mans arguement in my opinion. Its an adventure game as well so the majority of hardcore adventure fans myself included are primarily looking for charm and character in the graphics as much as anything.

Looking forward to playing it though, I still have my retail copy of TLJ. Razz

I'll give all of them a try tomorrow Nailbiter and post some form of mini reviews, as per usual im tired and have to be up early tomorrow morning so I don't have time to unpack/transfer to another computer/burn and play enough to form any strong opinions. I still have NBA Ballers Phenom kicking around so some of those cruddy globalstar games can go on a disc with that. Razz

Well I gave Army Men a try and found it would of been a fair kids game if the contols/targeting/jumping was'nt so finicky and annoying. Younger gamers would definately get frustrated very quickly with this game.

Maybe it deserves a place at the end of a multi-disc to justify downloading it, but I couldn't imagine it would ever get played.

ok cool. 2 games worth skipping there.

i tried out dreamfall for about 15-30 minutes and it seems like a solid adventure game. acording to other users and reviews its more about an interactive story than point & click though.

nice sound + gfx. the atmosphere is really nice.

fahrenheit lovers rejoice and play, my wife included.

im in need for a good action game myself so keep us informed how that rogue trooper turned out. Smile

Ok just working my way through the games now:-

Rogue Trooper - essentially the game is a very well done, graphically v. nice looking third person shooter which is obviously based on the classic 2000AD character this is noticable pretty early into starting the campaign where you see the gentically enginereed troopers being dropped from motherships in pods onto a hostile planet which you have to storm along with your fellow commandos. The game follows what I believe to be the story in the comic in that when you touch down after linking up with your comrades 3 of them are killed but Rogue Trooper takes there genetic chips and uses them in his gun to gain special abilities such as an auto aim feature and the ability to collect scrap which can be used to manufacture and create new weapons. The game has what looks to be a cracking campaign along with an excellent multiplayer mode which best of all can be played in co-op (splitscreen and I'd also imagine sys link).

Overall heartily recommended, not AMAZING but certainly well worth trying at the very least, co-op is always fun. Smile

Dreamfall - Only played the first 20-30 mins but yep Im a huge adventure fan and agree with Nailbiter its consoletastic, this game can get some loving over the weekend inbetween Guitar Hero. (Loved Wonkers in the game btw) Razz

Hummer Badlands - for the love of god I implore people to not play this game, the menu insists on spouting out what you have just selected in this cheesy american voice which irritated me straight away i.e. when you start the game and it shows the devs logos then cuts to the main menu the game actually shouts MAAAAAIIIN MEEEENU plus more importantly the actual game just seems budget/poor to me. That 4x4 game that came out recently was a heck of alot better. So yes skip this one or grab merely to be put on a multidisc never to be played again. Razz

King of the Fighters: Neowave - not bad if your into 2d beat em ups, personally I prefer Camcom Vs Marvel, the Street Fighter and X-Men game to the KOF series and Guilty Gear as an updated take on 2D beat em ups but each to there own. Certainly loads of fighters to choose from though but seeing the name Sammy in the title screen only makes me yearn for them to release a home console version of Dolphin Blue. Crying or Very sad

Army Men - I'd agree with Jonels opinions, for an Army Men game or taken purely as a kids game its a fair title. That said its the sort of game that I would stick on a multi disc and never play again plus I expect the reviews to rate it as fair-mediocre so instantly skippable and oh yeah you have to wonder what "Team 17"s involvement in this game was?, how the mighty have fallen.

Classified Sentinel Crisis - bwhahahaha, no redeeming qualities whatsoever.

NBA Ballers Phenom - I think this was released weeks back but noone put up a thread, anyway game is nowhere near as polished as The NBA Street Series but in its favour its brimming with different game modes and an excellent career mode which wipes the floor with EA's frankly boring "Own the Streets", there are also masses of unlockables, silly cheat codes and multimedia content making it a more than worthy alternative to the Street series.

No probs, im kind of hazy on the Rogue Trooper story myself but all of the stuff in 2000AD was nothing short of amazing loved Judge Dredd, Slaine and that Chopper:Song of the Surfer story. I've still got the complete set of graphic novels for Nemesis the Warlock boxed up and kicking around the house somewhere, there worth bugger all but that was another great 2000AD character.

Its funny reading some of the threads across the sites for this game with the usual spotty pre-pubescent no-life internet nerds posting sarcastic comments about the games originality, you'd think that they'd maybe have the common sense to appreciate just how old this character and story is and see that it was actually extremely original and along with alot of those old 2000AD characters has been an inspiration for alot of the stuff we see today plus the sense of art direction and style in these comics was obviously superb - can't say I make any efforts to buy or read those comics today but it says alot about the calibre of something when you can read it 10-15 years ago and still vividly remember the minutest details. Well I got to Admiral Hoffa's ship ok & the reload is slow. Enjoyable game with some issues like texture work is mediocre & feels slightly juddery/aiming feels a bit weak. Good strong story with cool cutscenes to help the plot along. The Norts are great & make you laugh with the crap they come out with. I love their dwarf freakish leaders!

Having just 1 gun is boring & a game like Black just oozes class by comparison. Amazing that Criterion pulled off such a feat on an antique P3-733 system ! Rebellion bought the rights to 2000AD as they loved it so much & this game is much better than their fairly poor "Judge Dredd Dredd Vs Death" offering. Just a shame they didn't take it to the slick level of Black - then Rogue Trooper would completely rock ! Razz

I was watching Chelsea V Liverpool and remembered about this article on IGN which supposedly lists the top ten players in their respective skills categories.

http://uk.xbox.ign.com/articles/701/701699p1.html

If those stats are final then its shocking, you'd think that this being the officially licensed game of the sport they might put some effort into mapping out the players skills realistically - Harry Kewell for example rated at No 1 in the Speed Merchants and Dribble Kings categories, Michael Ballack in the top ten for Heading Masters, no Wayne Rooney in the top ten clinical finishers, Michael Owen creeping into a few categories even though hes been out half of the season and Landon Donovan at No 10 in the Dribble King categorie.

Heh, I guess there not big football fans. Confused

Real_World_Golf_NTSC_XBOXDVD-CLEAR is out btw - Its debateable just how worthwhile grabbing something like this is, obviously the game is based around having the golf club peripheral and some reviews also state that but for the novelty of the peripheral the game is a very, very average golf sim.
