Took me half an hour to figure out how to enable secure boot, such a waste. Laughing

Tbh I realy don't understand the fun of cheating in an FPS, normal people would be done with this after 1 round.

That did not work for me. I tried to reset the PK and everything failed to boot. I had to swap to integrated GPU, but there was a bios error loop. The solution was to remove all drives in order to properly boot and reset CMOS to deal with some instability.

12 year olds. And a lot with more disposable income than most working adults.
I've dug around back when I played siege many years ago and some of these undetected cheat devs sell them for hundreds of dollars, one was $400+ and that was pre covid.

it's also a business model for some to buy them then charge little kids to team up with them and boost their rank the easy way so they can boast about it in school.
I gave up on online FPS gaming a long long time ago, it's really not worth the time and definitely not the money and frustration.

The fact that people are letting developers get away with having to do shit like this is insane to me. If you go to MSI/Asus/Gigabyte's reddit pages, there are dozens upon dozens of people bricking their systems to some degree just to be able to play.

At some point, the cure's worse than the disease. Guess the masses haven't figured that shit out yet. Probably going to take a mass exploitation of some sort to get people to wake the fuck up. Go back to the days of privately hosted servers with vote-ban and stat analysis instead of fucking rootkitting systems (which doesn't work anyway).

And yes, I am salty because I do want to play but will not risk fucking shit up to that degree. Laughing

It could be the maps, but i think it feels like CoD with destruction atm. The game is beautiful and the sound is mindblowing...but i kind of get the Operation Metro & Operation Locker feeling on most of the ones included in the beta (Atleast I think its those two who used to be the meatgrinders..i might remember the wrong names)

shitloads of new stuff in my pc. Cant keep track of it all.

There's a well constructed post on Steam about the game that sums up the shit we have to put up to as BF (purist) Veterans:

https://steamcommunity.com/app/2807960/discussions/0/600786083350050366/?tscn=1754682221

Quote:
You’re not crazy – it really does feel different. (For the Vets Only)

If you’ve been playing Battlefield for years, you feel it right after spawning: the maps are tiny, the chaos is… different, and those big “Battlefield moments” we used to live for just aren’t there. People keep calling BF6 a “spiritual successor” to BF3 and BF4 – but honestly… where? How?

If you actually played those games back in their prime, you know this ain’t it. And no, that’s not just nostalgia – the franchise has changed, and it’s 100% intentional.

1. The market reality nobody likes to hear

BF3/BF4-style “All-Out Warfare” – huge maps, tons of vehicles, big POIs – that was peak 2011–2013 Battlefield. Back then, that was the shooter dream. Now? The big money is in fast, cramped maps like CoD, Apex, Valorant, Fortnite.
Gamers today are used to super short TTK, slide spam, parkour movement – and if you don’t have that, people call your game “old.”
And let’s be real: making huge, open maps with jets, tanks, boats and 64 players is expensive as hell, hard to balance, and not exactly new-player friendly. Casuals (the ones who bring the most cash) don’t want to spend 5 minutes driving a tank just to get blown up from across the map.

2. EA’s game plan

BF2042 trashed a lot of trust. So EA’s goal with BF6 isn’t to “make the perfect BF3/BF4 successor” – it’s to:

Win back the mainstream.

Make the game technically stable.

Lock in steady monetization.

That’s why the beta maps are small, urban, and streamlined – fewer bugs, easier to develop new content, and way more “streamer-friendly.” Tight fights look better on Twitch than a 2-minute tank drive with nothing happening.

3. Who they’re actually making this for

Battlefield’s audience is basically:

Old-school vets (BF2/BF3/BF4) → Want huge maps, big vehicle variety, tactical depth, classes, Levolution.

Casual CoD crowd → Want fast action, respawn spam, modern movement, low downtime.

New shooter players → Often come from free-to-play games, want quick dopamine hits like skins and cosmetics.

Guess which groups EA is targeting? Yep – 2 and 3. Why? Bigger wallets, fewer demands.

4. Money talks

Big maps and vehicles? Cool – but slow to monetize.
Small maps mean shorter matches, which means:

More skin visibility (charms, stickers, outfits).

More action per minute → higher retention → more Battle Pass completions → more microtransactions.

Turning Battlefield into CoD isn’t an accident. It’s a business plan.

If I were them, I’d think exactly like this:

“The vets will complain, but they’re not the bulk of our revenue.”

“We need new players to have fun instantly and stick around long enough to buy stuff.”

“The old-school BF experience is a luxury we can’t afford until the brand is bulletproof again.”

To the veterans

You remember the jet fly-bys on Golmud Railway. The storm ripping through Paracel Storm. That skyscraper falling in Siege of Shanghai.

Those weren’t just maps – they were Battlefield.

Now? The game is sprinting down tight corridors, chasing trends it used to laugh at. If nothing changes, the last real “Battlefield moments” will only exist in your memories – and on those old servers that’ll one day shut down, taking a whole era with them.

When I managed to make my PC work again, Secure Boot just appeared as Active in the bios. Gigabyte...

unless u also run linux there is no point in keeping secure boot disabled these days

the game is very well received regardless of wat the bf veterans say, probably be successful too

im hoping they will add one of the big maps for next weekend and reduce ttk a bit and see how it plays but for right now im still not liking it and get insta death from everywhere regardless how slow u play, even watched some streams its the same thing, u cant move more than 2 meters and get insta killed

also from how some of the players move i swear there are some bots in the server too which is big meh

Battlefield 6 Update: On Secure Boot & Cheats

Hey folks,

AC from the SPEAR Anti-Cheat Team here, hope everyone's having fun in the Battlefield 6 Open Beta!

I wanted to take a moment to acknowledge some of the feedback around cheating in the game, especially around Secure Boot.

On Secure Boot, I want to be clear that Secure Boot is not, and was not intended to be a silver bullet. Secure Boot is how you're helping us build up our arsenal. It’s another barrier that helps us make it harder for cheat developers to create cheat programs, and makes it easier for us to detect it when they do.

There are certain signals that we can only trust when Secure Boot is enabled, which we spoke of before in our previous posts, like here https://steamcommunity.com/app/2807960/discussions/0/600785827026563959/.

One example, Secure Boot prevents your machine from running with vulnerable drivers enabled. So if Secure Boot is running and we see those drivers loaded, we know something's a bit off.

I also wanted to thank you all for taking the time to report cheaters, cheat programs and specific clips to us. Your reports help us zero in and lead us to finding up and coming cheat communities, reporting one actual cheater often can lead to new detection techniques and help us keep them from impacting your experience.

Since Open Beta Early Access’s launch:

Javelin has prevented 330,000 attempts to cheat or tamper with anti-cheat controls.
You’ve reported 44,000 instances of potential cheaters during day one and another 60,000 so far today.
We are already using these with our own Gameplay Integrity team to add and improve our detections for Battlefield 6. They are also working with the Battlefield Positive Play team, to actively remove those reported we confirm to be cheaters.

Anti-Cheat isn't one and done, it's an ever evolving battlefield, and what has worked for us previously or in different games doesn't always work in all of them.

I hope this helps, and please keep the reports coming in - we'll continue cleaning up the cheaters so you can have a fair game.

We’re looking forward to the Open Beta tomorrow, and if you need to, the best way to help combat cheaters in Battlefield 6 is by reporting them via their profiles on the score screen.

See you on the Battlefield!

Tried the beta. It feels like a Battlefield-ish game, but I don't know, it doesn't do it for me. It's too chaotic and shakey. And WTF is with this vehicle FoV and why is the gun taking up like 50% of your screen even when it's on wide view Laughing

I concur with the previous image:

I was so hyped, but it is kinda meh... a lot of work needs to be done on balancing, the maps in beta are too small - the one more open is sniper fest, movement and ttk seems even faster compared to bf 2042, just like recent CoD games - whoever see other person first wins, visibility on maps suck, UI sucks (shitload of icons), menu sucks (reminds me cod) Sad

too bad the set of leaked maps does not look good as well.. also only 3 maps from 9 will feature jets/helis... needs new maps like paracel storm, wake island, karkand, gulf of oman...
Sad
