We're all having fun shitting on stuff here - as usual - BUT(!)... It has to be said:
The game actually RUNS WELL. For me. Might be lucky with my system configuration, but the only thing that is slightly annoying is the stuttering while riding.
And... I don't ride.
Horses...
Performance is better than expected for me, playing the unpatched yarred 1.0 version. My dumbass theory is that my 5900x is doing the heavy lifting with UE5, the 3070 not so much.
Still runs better than STALKER 2 in any hub area AYUND with more NPC's roaming around, GSC can't code for shit I guess? Or OBR has much simpler NPC's when compared to STALKER2, could be.

You can absolutely nit-pick the performance, but this game runs amazing in comparison to something like FO: NV. Morrowind, well, you have stutters every other 30'ish second because it loads a new section of the map, that is even a thing in the OpenMW, so not even with an entirely new engine they could get rid of it..
Try DXVK.
In my case while I think it messes some of the texture filtering (looks like it has no AF or wonky AF) but it did the trick to have both heavily modded Morrowind and FO3 running much MUCH smoother.
Though, with all the shit I'm reading about Win11 nowadays maybe it's because I'm still running Win10?

The most disappointing part was seeing the same game with a nice coat of paint displaying the same type of hitching as it did 19 years ago, as if having immensely more powerful hardware and dev tools didn't matter at all. Then again, it adds to the faithfulness of the original Bethesda experience

Aye, dxvk is a godsend especially for dx9 games (though it works fairly well in some UE4/dx11 titles as well) -- it's always the first ghetto fix that I try whenever I encounter uneven frame times or stuttering due to old engines not being designed for modern hardware. Some games behave better with the gplasync variant, but in general the standard dxvk is fine as it gets updated frequently with better compatibility and whatnot.
The lack of AF is "normal" for some reason , for each game I always have to manually create a dxvk.conf file inside the same folder as the .dlls with:
Damn, totally forgotten about DXVK, i actually have a link somewhere since someone on here recommended it a few months ago. Good to know about the Anisotropy settings too. Gotta try that, cheers men!
edit: doesnt seem like it works with MGEXE which is what i run Morrowind with. Will try it for some other games though.
I guess it's a good tool if I want to find out the position of stars, planets and satellites in orbit around Earth. I don't want to find out though so thanks but no thanks.
