I liked the potential of the game back then but I'm not sure how a remaster would stack up.
A huge game world but very rough, especially the two expansion zones but Ascaron was basically going out of business back then.
The good/evil divide between classes aside from the pure good seraphim and the pure evil inquisitor was also interesting but more of a sidetrack and some of the class quests are fairly boring.
And on that note the endless amount of MMO-like fetch/kill type quests.
Will be interesting to see what can be done with it, but there's a lot of newer action-rpg games and many do it better, we'll see how it pans out.
EDIT: Titan Quest is also getting a sequel come to think of it, Grim Dawn also exists.
Not sure how Victor Vran ended up, they remade the game like three times or possibly more.
In the straightforward to the next reward game Diablo 3 is a solid installment although I couldn't quite get into Diablo 4 myself, on PC there's also Battle.Net and other anti-cheat measures that could be a bit of a interference.
By now I suppose its all always-online however, various types of DRM or just the client, such as Steam, being a hard requirement though, but then you have additional apps and account criteria on top of it.
Probably omitting a whole ton of other good ARPG's with isometric perspective, the humor has also aged a bit poorly but its there, although the general writing is less than stellar and of course the gameplay itself.
And when it comes to being bombarded by loot there's Diablo again or for 3D and more action oriented something like the newer Borderlands games.
I just don't see how this is going to work out, unless its Nordic Games or what they are called now scrambling to get something out after that Saudi deal fell through and a ton of interesting projects got cancelled out.
(The next Deus Ex game for one of them.)
Or its just happening for another reason, I saw a remake of Gothic 1 also making the rounds recently, even getting a early, very rough, tech demo out on the consoles platforms.
Another one of those games you never expected to see remastered or remade.
And the attempts of UnSacred from the remnants of Ascaron fell through entirely several years ago if I remember it right.
Sacred and sequels released somehow in the Diablo / Diablo 2 fever period and stand out with open world. But the game had poor itemization and IMO on longer run was just boring. First being junk and second being junk and turbo boring after initial 1-2 hours with limited skills, itemization and gimmicky skill comboing.

Not sure the right word is "overrated" since they're obviously not super well known, it's small AA games and they played as AA games when they came out, not awful, not great.
