I hope, they'd downplay his son's threads and focus more on the main course, Dexter's return to his calling on the new playground.
Occasional visitations from his previous life would be fine.

Remember that tv series, 'The Following' about serial killers group following another serial killer as their leader? And they all were strangely obsessed with Edgar Allan Poe writings?
It never made any sense to me for psychopaths to fraternize with and trust another psychopath.

So when in this season of Dexter lone wolves suddenly form a pack just doesn't work for me as a concept.

So should I watch Original Sin first? Haven't watched New Blood either, but I hear it's shit.

isn't the Original Sin like a prequel showing his teenage years before the first actual Dexter seasons? New Blood builds up some of the story elements for the Resurrection season, to me the season was okay, its not memorable like the earlier seasons but its not complete ass.

Resurrection season I find quite good.

Watching Original Sin is not necessary before watching this one, though there's been a couple of little references to it in Resurrection, but nothing really relevant.

New Blood was excellent up to episode 9 and then episode 10 (the finale) was incredibly bad (even worse than the lumberjack fiasco).

Yep, New Blood is practically a requirement for Resurrection, where you can witness the absolutely hilarious gymnastics of the writers trying to "undo" yet another beyond miserable ending. Original Sin is optional - however, I found its tone too cringey to make it past the first couple of episodes. Resurrection on the other hand is classic back to the roots pre-disaster memberberry-imbued Dexter with extra steps (and a different city), which still works well as long as one acknowledges the self-aware campiness and all the convenient plot devices.
