Probably not a big deal for you guys not in North America, as I don't think it aired elsewhere, but that JG Wentworth tune she's humming at the begging of the first episode was infamous over here. Aired all the time. Shit was stuck in my head for MONTHS. I'd finally forgotten about it at some point, and now here we are again! Crying or Very sad Laughing

Not sure where you live? If you meant North America, then yea. If not then it also played here ALL the time also. It as replaced with less 'upper class' people. Same song but middle class people singing it on a bus.

I assume as they realized opera people didn't really relate to anyone looking to get loans they see on TV Razz

My fault for using a double negative. What I should have said was - This commercial only aired in North America to the best of my knowledge.

Also, my new favorite quote that cuts me to my core:

"I've been expecting more from myself my whole life, and it's just not there." Very Happy

I watched them all back to back over the last few weeks in the lead up to S12, but I might stop now. S11 was awful, and S12E01 seems to start out with much of the same

It was peak Curb from S01 - S07, then it sort of tapered off until S09, but now it's in nosedive territory immooooo

Should have cut it shorter like they did Seinfeld

Anyhow:

i agree that its been shit for a few seasons now, with recycled jokes that have been done to death and too much cringe. with that said i would still watch it over any other comedy as it still does have its moments, and in short bursts its ok, def not bingeable. but yeah its been too long

I'm with you all. It's one of the very few shows I watch. larry david comedy style is one of my styles I like.
But I feel its been on a 'phone it in' trend for last few seasons. Can only have so many rehashed 'Well that's awkward and a misunderstanding, and now I am frustrated' plots and scenes before it feels beat to death.

I feel any show with a set premise and theme shouldn't go on this long. As at first it's new, and funny, enjoyable. But as time goes on it's like hearing the funniest joke for the 50th time. It's still as funny as it was to start with for its premise. Just not to you, that has heard it 50 times by now. And hard for writers to keep making 'funnier than that' jokes to keep up with rising expectations of viewers.

Get what I am saying? Seasons 1/2/3 you had no expectations. As nothing previous of it to expect from. But after 8 seasons you have higher refined expectations of what they deliver. And when it's a confined premise of theme..its ran out of things to do that keep matching your ever increasing expectation of "YES! that is it, thats funny. Do that but a different way again" over and over.

when they brought seinfeld cast into the show some seasons ago, maybe then was a good thing to end on, felt like it was building towards that but then it kept going

Agreed, some shows dont know how to end on a high note.
While i will still watch it, as I said it's one of the few I watch sporadically when I realize there is a new episode. It feels they are grasping at straws to come up with premises in the narrow scope that the show has, and will jump the shark soon.
The seinfeld cast felt a bit like they was getting ready to do that, but instead of doing the shark jump, they tried to drag it out on name/cross show familiarity a bit too long and ruined the novelty of it, to me.

Quote:
Comedian and actor Richard Lewis, whose self-deprecating humor and acerbic wit in shows like “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and “Anything but Love” entertained audiences for decades, has died, according to his publicist Jeff Abraham. He was 76.

Abraham said in an email to CNN that the entertainer passed away “peacefully” at his home in Los Angeles on Tuesday night after having a heart attack.

Decent season so far, had quite a few laughs. There was one episode which was a bit repetitive that i didn't care for.

Kind of a missed opportunity to not have Larry in prison, that would've been a surprising and different route from the rest of the series haha, maybe not for an entire season, but would be fun for 2-3 episodes i bet!
