The changes are pretty minor compared to most path-traced games.
Didn't you watched the vid
I'm starting to understand why ray tracing is always so underwhelming and hard to see a difference: it's not the real deal. Path tracing is "real" ray tracing, it's like night and day. You'll instantly see the difference.

He's comparing it to OTHER path traced games like CP2077, I'd guess.

when artists take the time to do their actual fucking job, you dont need ray tracing at all. You can account for enough light bounces and realistic shade with old methods and it looks great enough without setting your house on fire to run a twitch shooter at 12fps.
All Ray Tracing added was a few more LOST frames. My old eyes can't really see shit when I'm racing around and killing! I shut that shit off. Or maybe I should just turn off the frame count and GPU temp in the corner of my screen!!!!

I can't let go of the stats. I need my FPS, temps and percentages overlayed.
I gave it a go with path tracing enabled. 4K DLSS performance all on max with 2x MFG I got to be honest it runs and feels good. I can't notice the fake frames at all. It looks great and feels smooth.
Shame it's not really my type of game anymore. I can only tolerate these games for short bursts.
i love how all my office pcs are getting popups every month with this game being available on gamepas now ......................................................

This, it's so annoying.
Though the local IT guys fucked this up, but it's by design. Can't believe Microsoft is pushing this.
Frankly, it's uninspired generic graphics vs. uninspired generic graphics. There were a few interior scenes in Indiana Jones that looked great with path tracing enabled. But I still rather played with it turned off for better fps. I really don't think that this tech warrants such an emphasis. As it was already said, good art direction triumphs over all kinds of ray tracing, every day. As it's now, it's just a tool for lazy devs, and a gimmick that sells gpus.
That’s some serious boomer talk and an obvious lack of technical understanding
Glad nobody in the game and movie industry agrees. And no dev gets sponsored anymore to implement this shit. They know it’s better than rasterized fake hacky lighting and yes obviously less work
Better get used to it because within the next 10 years youll get either path traced lighting or no graphics at all
Which is great, cause the differences can be drastic. Especially in non Remedy/idTech games where the devs would never have bothered (or had the resources) to implement advanced lightning systems manually
That's a lot of assumptions based on not much. Have you seen the direction nvidia has been taking lately? More energy consumption = more performance. A this rate we'll get there if everyone has their own nuclear power plant at home and their own wizard constantly casting super freeze spells on the damn thing.
The only efficiency I'm seeing is the speed with which devs can push out bloated choppy garbage that needs vaseline filters to run at cinematic FPS.
