The tech demo might be 60fps running on a standard PS5 but I’ll be impressed if the retail game is lol. Besides it will probably be a launch title on PS6
Granted, a lot of that 2013/2014 Witcher 3 footage is "the way they wanted the game to look like" and then everything after is the optimization pass kicking in.
But thanks to Nanite devs don't have to optimize for polygon budgets so much anymore.
I'd not be surprised if the game will look exactly like in that gameplay footage, with the same blurriness thanks to upscaling
and then finally good on PC thanks to DLSS Quality and framegen because that's probably the only way to have playable games moving forward cause optimization passes will be much much more restrained from now on. Cause we got all these technologies right?
Don't like having 30fps? Just upscale from 360p
Which is fantastic on consoles cause they seem to only have access to FSR2 and that's.. rough
4k, ray traced. Running in 60 FPS on a standard ps5..in UE5
The fuck why are they lying about it. People will be fine if they say he you'll need a ps6 for this.
Why lie??
Yep... the BPM (bullshit per minute) is also pretty high
It's not bullshit...
It is just upscaled from 480p with RT and framegen x4.
Is not a lie... it's just... it's just... it's...
It’s also a tiny, tiny slice of a demo with none of the overhead required so of course it runs well. This is an easy way to generate hype for them and increase their stock price
Cinematics looks great, characters, likewise, but environment looks just horrible. UE and realism don't go hand in hand. Rocks have shiny plastic look to them, far mountains are red and purple, and of impossible generic look. Lighting, and trees are off as well. I don't give a fuck about nanites and leaves looking good when zoomed up, when the tree ends up like a random mess that does not look like a tree in the forest. Massive disappointment in this area. Witcher was always grounded and took the looks from European setting. This demo is today a generation behind Kingdoms Come 2 when it comes to the scenery, even though we all know that it'll take another step back before the release.
Now we're upscaling the upscaling in UE5.6
Epic/CDPR pretending 800p is "success".
1080p kicks in when 90% of the world is culled (not rendered) when "close up cinematic shots" are used.
4K Integer scaled 1080p with proper AA is more clear than Witcher 4 upload.

Those are rookie numbers. I used to play 30 years ago in 320x240. Why not to go from there?!
