The Sum of All Fears (2002) - 7/10

"CIA analyst Jack Ryan must stop the plans of a Neo-Nazi faction that threatens to induce a catastrophic conflict between the United States and Russia's President by detonating a nuclear weapon at a football game in Baltimore, Maryland."

Modern plot Very Happy Morgan Freeman and others, great cast.

As it's based on true events - it is a study how all your training goes to shit when situation goes TARFU and you really are only human.

Feels a bit too much for me.
Warfare: 7/10. Not too bad, but really didn't needed 30 minutes of screaming (I know it's part of the movie, yes).

Conclave - 7/10

Both authentic and artificially set up to be reminiscent of a play, a trick to make the dull real-life procedures more movie-friendly: convenient but not a deadly sin for the paedoclergy. Props to Ralph Fiennes (impeccable as always) and the photography which goes hand in hand with the minimalistic music.

Vermiglio - 7,5/10

It's a movie that draws inspiration from Neorealism, mixing a (very) slow-paced and intimate story with environmental elements. Definitely not for everyone, but I liked how down to earth its tone is, a pretty accurate representation of the 1940s humble life in the Italian Alps. I actually had to enable subtitles since the dialect is way too strong even for me Razz

It started in 2000 and grew worse with time. As I've said before, a brain virus that kills imagination must've hit the writers in the US, forcing them to do remakes, sequels, prequels and adaptations of existing work.

Remakes, sequels and prequels have existed as long as the movie industry though.

Warfare - 7/10

Realistic and accurate in its portrayal of the chaotic combat operation, albeit light on content. Enough to make it more compelling than your derpy fuckyea outputs involving the same subject matter.

Sinners - 5,5/10

Part melodrama, part comedy, part ""horror"" and part TDM session feat. The Bloodsucking Brothers, it's a mix of imprints from different genres that doesn't quite make the movie excel at anything in particular. It has its moments from a technical standpoint, but the result is (predictably) shallow and the interesting Southern gothic-esque setting felt wasted here.

Io Capitano, aka Salvini's least favourite movie of all time - 7,5/10

Competently directed and with believable acting, especially from the young protagonist who nails the full range of emotions required for the hellish Dakar-Sicily trip. Although the dream-like sequences are a bit out of place and the movie as a whole has that Oscar-bait vibe, it works well thanks to its authentic tone and solid flow.

I am basically of the same opinion. However, I would only rate the movie 5/10, as I found it to be very boring. I mean, 1/3 of the runtime was just 2 guys shouting in pain, which I found tiresome real fast.
