Murderbot (TV Series, Apple TV+) May 16th

Quote:
It's rogue. It's powerful. It would rather be watching TV.

Based on the award-winning, best-selling series by Martha Wells, Murderbot follows a rogue security unit as it searches for the meaning of life.

Murderbot premieres May 16 on Apple TV+ https://apple.co/_Murd...

In a high-tech future, a rogue security robot (Alexander Skarsgård) secretly gains free will. To stay hidden, it reluctantly joins a new mission protecting scientists on a dangerous planet…even though it just wants to binge soap operas.

It's ok, specific kind of comedy. I wonder if the bot will assume he is a she. Because it was a she in the books as I have heard.

From the trailer, I don't know if I am getting old and out of touch. Or comedy in pop media just started to suck.
This has the type of comedy I don't find funny. And a lot of movies in recent years has: All the jokes are: Benign Setup, questionable if leading to a joke follow up response...pause to build "will this be a joke reply?"..one liner joke.

I hope that movie isn't also doing that. It's so...flat. No jokes are funny on their own, or don't need a setup to swing at to be recognized as a joke. The trailer oozes of "Marvel Movie" comedy.

While I stand by anything entertainment, someone/anyone finds a laugh in IS a form of comedy. Modern cinema comedy, is surely not my type of comedy.

im digging it. 2 eps in sofar, dry humor like that space cruise with dr house as captain. But im wondering if it wouldnt have been better to have an actual robot with human voice, then the actor himself ... it messes up the scifi bit too much, his eyes and face just isnt robotic enough

also very short eps 20-25 mins is just to short. prefer 35+ mins of actual content minimum
